Putting in a conditoner for instant fish?

For a water change you should use salt water. when you add water to make up for evaperation use RODI or distilled water. It sounds like you added too much fresh water at some point and may need to add more salt water.

No the drawing in post #11 won't work well. you need to split the drain pipe higher and angle down. A "y" connector would be best or a "t" with 45*s.

Yes your setup is fine. You may want to add one more baffle for the water to go under into the return section. As evaperation occures the water level will drop in the return section. The way you have it it will spill over louder and louder as the level gets lower. Another setup is to have the...

    Buying a sump/refugium/etc.

With sumps bigger is better if you have the space for it. Go with the bigest one you can fit, check your dimensions and recheck. How big a return pump depends on how much water you can flow out of your tank. Some of the flow rates can be from 5x tank vol. up to 15x tank vol. Are you going to...

    Is it possible..

Yes you can have all kinds of algae growing at the same time. If this is what you want great, if not then i would check your water with a tds meter. Have you checked for phosphates? Can you get more water flow in spots the algae is growing? What kind of lighting do you have? How old are the...

    Aimed at "newbies"

I think you are 99% wrong. The new aquarium keeper may very well know what there problem is, but just needs a little hand holding from the more experenced hobbiest. There are many of us on this board that don't mind helping out. I do see your point. Is there some kind of a filter to filter out...

Is it the placement of my koralia's or just not enough flow?

Can you move your power heads to the left and right side walls and run them alternating? By pointing them at the front glass like in the picture you are loosing a lot of flow energy. I don't see your return in the pic but a smaller exit will increse the water pressure going in to the tank or...
