Yes I'll do that... Place a shrimp in a mesh bag and add live rock at the same time.

I've been reading around online and I've seen live rock cycling as opposed to a raw shrimp or other means. How many ways can I cycle the tank, which is the best and which is the easiest? If I go the raw shrimp route will I have issues adding live rock later?

Thanks for the welcome :) I am indeed new to saltwater. I'm currently using a tetra whisper on my fw tank, but I would instead use the penguin filter. Would any of the bacteria in my current filter help at all in cycling a sw tank? Seems like anemones are not a good choice lol! I'll stay...

I currently have way too many (unidentified) snails in my tank that most likely came with my amazon sword so I'm now looking for assassin snails to help keep the population under control.
