Buying a used Protein Skimmer on Ebay

I was looking at an item that I thought looked pretty good. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3984757850 What do you all think? Does this guy seem pretty reasonable and reputable? Is the skimmer decent quality? Is this a good deal? Do you think he would screw me over? I...

    anyone found sand?

The thing about buying sand from HD is that some play sands have high silicate contents, something you don't want in your tank.

I need to come up with a compatibility list.

I've had my chromis' for years, and they're my healthiest fish. These fish are great in reef setups!

I need to come up with a compatibility list.

Check out the Blue/Green Chromis. Beautiful schooling fish, and great for Reef Tanks. I have 4 and love them. They're peaceful, hardy fish that really bring out the color in the tank.

    Mangroves in a Refugium?

Anyone ever seen someone using Mangroves as part of their Refugium? I just saw it tonight and it shocked me. The guy said that Mangroves love Nitrates, so they're great in a refugium. LFS sells them for $10.00 a piece, but the guy bought 10 on Ebay for less than $20.00, and they look great. If...

    Powerhead in a 29??

I do indeed have a sump, but does that affect my need for flow in my big tank? Thanks for your incredibly quick responses guys, I'm going to go down to my LFS and buy a SCWD unit. I'll post some photos at one point or another.

    Powerhead in a 29??

I just bought a Coralife HQI setup for my 29 and I'm planning on doing a SPS tank. I have a Surge pump that's pumping about 300-400 gph, do I need another powerhead? I know that my gph is good, but would I need a powerhead to deliver more water flow to my SPS corals? If so, which powerhead...

    good glue for liverocks?

Super Glue works great for frags, it's cheap and effective. However, only use the Super Glue Gel. It's easy to buy the wrong kind. You just have to look at the packaging.

    ich ?

It's absolutely possible for fish to get Ich without adding anything new. Ich comes about when the fish become stressed. Check your water parameters, I've noticed that if the temperature variates, or water quality is bad it brings on Ich. I would net the fish, QT them and treat the afflicted...

    Reef Lighting PC vs. VHO

I'm moving, and thought that now would be the best time to set up a new lighting system for my tank. I have a 29 gallon under 130 watts of PC. Although it looks nice, I'd like to really be able to grow more than just soft corals. Here's the situation... I'm looking at the new Coralife HQI...

going down to coast soon, can i bring anything back ???

What about shipping beach sand from the actual coast? Would that work, or do you run the risk of inadvertently introducing harmful chemicals? It would be great for a DSB, and I live about an hour from the beach..hmm. I'm taking orders, anyone?

    moving my 30 gallon

I literally just moved my 29 gallon last night to a whole new house (moving sucks!) I went to my Home Depot and bought (2) 25 gallon storage bins. It cost me less than 7.00 a piece. I used 3/4 inch tubing and just siphoned out the water into the two bins. I put my corals and live rock in one...

    Need emergency help-reef tank

I'll bet a good deal of money your bubble-tip got sucked into your powerhead. Watch your nitrates for the next few days! I would suggest doing a large water change and seeing how it goes from there.
