    White growth on Rasboras fun

I noticed this morning this white, maybe cottony growth on one of my rasboras fins, and I'm not sure what it is. I was thinking it could be columnaris, but I can't tell. He is in a 20 gallon long aquarium with 3 other rasboras, 5 corydoras, 1 male betta, 4 kuhli loaches, 2 bamboo shrimp, and...

    Sick Cherry Barb

Thanks for the response, unfortunately the fish ended up dying not too long after I posted this. =( I checked its mouth and it didn't look like anything was stuck, so I'm going to guess it had a dislocated jaw..

    Sick Cherry Barb

I came home and fed my fish and noticed that one of my cherry barbs was acting a little weird. When I got a good look at it, it looked like its mouth was stuck open and it was just swimming along the top. My parameters are fine, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and >20 nitrates.. I separated the fish for...

    20g long stocking questions

Yea, I said in my original post I am sticking with one female betta. She's already in there and came from my 10 gallon community and I haven't had any aggression issues from her at all. =) I did some research into sororities and decided I didn't want to do it. I also have a filter rated for a...

    20g long stocking questions

I recently got a 20 gallon long and have been searching around trying to figure out what to stock it with. I know for sure there will be a school of 4 or 5 corydoras, and 5 kuhli loaches because I need to get them out of my 10 and want to expand their numbers. My boyfriend is really into glass...

Female Betta and male fancy tail guppy

Thanks for the advice. =D I ended up getting a tank divider as a back up just in case she decides she hates the guppy, I can split my 5 until I can either get another tank or find a new home for my guppy. Here's a few photos of her still in her cup..

Female Betta and male fancy tail guppy

I was at PetSmart today and saw a female betta on the lowest shelf and with torn up fins and I felt awful for her. I haven't been able to stop thinking about her and really want to go back and go get her. I wish I had room for another tank but with 3 in my room already I can't really add another...

    Sick betta

I wish I could help you with what it is, hopefully someone else here will know. However I would not keep the betta in the community tank since it seems like whatever the stuff is it spreads, I wouldn't risk the possibility of it spreading to any of the fish you have in there.

    Most difficult fish to catch

My black Kuhli loach.. I moved all my fish to temporary tanks while I got some new plants in the tank and moved things around. It took both me and my boyfriend 20 minutes to catch the little guy so we could stick him back in the tank.

Converting a 10 gallon and a 5 gallon to planted

In the interest of saving money, do you use one or two on your 10 gallon?

    Pond snails>:(

I ordered assassin snails and ramshorn snails and got them on the same day. Within a week the ramshorn snails had laid 5 batches of eggs, I have yet to see anything from the assassin snails. I know that they do breed, but I don't think it's nearly as fast as pest snails. You may get some baby...

    Pond snails>:(

Not too long ago I was at my Petsmart talking to one of the workers who has helped me quite a bit and he was saying that pond snails can also come in on the water from the fish bags. They had a couple of their tanks that had no live plants and they were just crawling with pond snails. Not sure...

Converting a 10 gallon and a 5 gallon to planted

Ooohh.. I'm gonna pick one of those up as soon as I get paid. =D Would the 20in be enough for most plants? Also should I change out some of the substrate or use root tabs? Thanks for the reply =)

Converting a 10 gallon and a 5 gallon to planted

Okay, so doing some more research I realize those lights are probably way too bright (and it seems they are more for saltwater tanks and growing corals) If I did two CFLs in clip on lamps would that be enough to grow just about everything?
