Little update: The simplex have spawned 3 times so far, and 3 times the male has swallowed the eggs :evil: They are getting all flirty again so this time iam going to try something else. I'll remove her after they spawn and leave the lights on 24/7, last time I left the lights on and he held...

What are pugnax like? Are they shy?

Well, i'll attempt to breed them that is. Smaragdina are pretty much the same as splendens. But as far as i know with simplex is that they just decide for themselves whens the right time (and hopfully there will be aright time!!)

I've been wanting wilds for a lonnng time now and i finnaly got some! :D :D :D I got a pair of b. Simplex, which is a mouthbrooder, and 4 young b. smaragdina which are bubblenesters. They are all sooo cute and I can't wait to breed them, especially the simplex as i've never had mouthbrooders...

Hard to tell cus the fins are already red, but he looks fine to me as well. If chunks start disinagrating then its fin rot, just keep water clean and he'll be fine :)
