Cool fish! Maybe he is like Red Foo's body guard. He could be told who to like, dislike, or beat up.

That crab story line is good! Maybe Jaws is the only one who can talk to him and make him feel better. Which is why Red Foo ( or any name) is jealous that Jaws has a head up in Red Foo's tank.

Parents hmmm........ that's a hard one But maybe instead of Red Foo: it could be Night Hawk! As for crustaceans maybe a fiddler crab? Named Clause? If you google fiddler crab, it could you give you ideas on the character personality.
