If you use RO water exclusively you will need to add nutrients to the water.

Some of the plants that I like are: Crypt wendtii Rotala tundara Anacharis Java fern Java moss Moneywort They all grow fairly easily

I wanted to add a photo of my whole aquarium but I don't seem to have one on my phone... I did find this cool pic though. It's a pond snail with moss growing from/off his shell.

Never tried that but I have used a submersible power head. I attached a hose to the outlet and let it pump out.

He didn't make it. After a couple weeks of fin and scale deterioration in spite of meds, he floated his way up to fishy heaven.

Wow.. Lazerus looks BAD today! His tail has all but rotted off and his back is one big open sore. Poor guy

So my pleco is looking really ragged today. Some major discoloration, tips of his fins are turning white and rotting off. I picked up some meds but I'm using them sparingly so as not to upset the rest of the inhabitants. Using some melafix I think. Supposedly it'll treat fin rot and open...

Maybe it's "thanks dude" or he's trying to say "look what you did you lidless jerk" Hmmm.... Hopefully our longstanding relationship will endure. I don't want Lazarus/Perseus/Alucard/Zombie-Fish to be upset with me... Maybe bloodworms will convince him i care

Maybe somebody suggested this already.... Get a small adhesive under tank heater instead of submersible. Good for plants.

Update he seems alright, his fins look really bad though. They're a little torn. His left eyeball is sunken in a bit He always hides but today has been front and center of my tank... Id like to think he's saying "thanks dude"

Some good suggestions. I'll be on the lookout for a zombie outbreak in my aquarium! About the lid... It's an old 75gal with no middle support. High tech lighting and aquaponics vegetable bed. They're gonna have to learn not to jump! Or at least how to survive out of water for extended...
