    BIG FISH eating fish

I am not into fishing, but wouldn't you hate having to wait for hours to hook a big fish, and then when you finally have it, have an even BIGGER fish come and eat your catch? [:o] Hammerhead vs. Tarpon

    Sacramento Aquarists (Northern Cali)

Update: AquaWorld Aquarium in Carmichael has gone out of business. Too bad, I loved that store. There is a new store there, but I didn't go check it out yet to see if it is any good. By the way... Anyone willing to take a Spotted Puffer Fish...

    F-8 help - with pic

Ok, so the "round" skin fell off the fish (kind of like a scab falls off) and now it looks like it is healing. I guess the fish will survive, it seems to be doing fine - more than fine, as one day I saw an "extra-fat" puffer, and only the shrimp's head to be found. The fish must have got hungry...

THERE IS A HOLE IN MY FISH! 8O Does anyone have any idea of what that may be? It started as a fungus-like pink spot, and now looks like it is dead skin falling out leaving a hole in the fish!

High Ammoinia but fish are fine!?!

8 ppm! That is crazy! Do the algae wafers get eaten within say... Half hour? Do you remove it from the tank or do you just leave it in there until it is gone? Maybe the algae wafers are dissolving in the water before being completely eaten by the fish, thus increasing waste in the tank?

    F-8 help - with pic

This is  INSANE  So today I went to get some medication for my puffer. I am starting from the assumption it is a fungus of some sort. After spending a good hour or so reading the different medications ingredients, I finally chose a product called MarOxy. I fear for my...

    F-8 help - with pic

Thanks for the replies everyone! :) The salt is marine, it is the Oceanic brand. No need for that, ammonia is 0ppm today. Weee! I know, that is why I kind of wanted to wait and see if it went away... As for the texture, it "sticks out" of the fish. It was properly refrigerated. It...

Figure eight puffer pink spot - with pic

I posted this on the "Getting Started" section, but I guess I probably would get more replies by posting it here... Here is a link to the original post, I hope you can help me! http://www.aquariumadvice.com/viewtopic.php?p=644087&pc_tzo=-25200&pc_d=20060504&pc_t=74892#644087

Figure eight not eating - stress? disease? I started a tank about 10 days ago. 10gal. Let it sit for 2 days for the chlorine to evaporate, then on day 3 added 4 ghost shrimp. Day 4, down to 2 ghost shrimps. Day 7 added a figure eight puffer fish and biospira. Fish was swimming up and down the...

    DIY backgrounds?

Update on my 3D Background attempt (for a 10gal): After 3 trials, the cement over styrofoam 3D Background didn't come out good enough to receive my seal of aproval - discarded. Issues: 1. carving styrofoam = huge mess 2. cement = more mess 3. too much water displacement by background 4...

    DIY backgrounds?

I would think so. I guess they have to cure for a while before being safe for fish. Today I glued mine to the tank. I am a bit frustrated, though, because I had a lot of problems adjusting the space behind the "rocks" to hide the hardware. :?

    DIY backgrounds?

Nice link! I wish I've found it before I started my project... I am currently building a 3d background for my 10gal, which will house a F-8 puffer, and now I understand why usually people only build a 3d background for larger tanks. It is a lot of work. The one I am doing uses concrete instead...

    3D-backgrounds + brackish = disaster?

Hi everyone! I am in the process of starting a new brackish tank (10gal) that will be the home of a Figure-8 puffer fish. I was planning on bulding, for that tank, a 3-d background as well (kinda like this one on http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/diy_aquarium_background.php) That seems to...
