    Breakthecycle2's new build

That pintail is now dead and the cause of the velvet outbreak. He is not lying on a table, he was in a clear plastic bin with water. The moorish Idol I've had since October. I had two, one big and one small. The small one ate everything as was aggressive. He was going after the big one and I...

    Breakthecycle2's new build

    Diatoms!

100% cyano on the sand. The rocks I do not know for sure. That is exactly what I had and both chemiclean and more flow took care of it.

    Maxspect gyre users.....a question

I used to be a big Ecotech guy. Not anymore, except the Radions. The pumps are very noisy and in all honesty, you need multiples for big tanks, to avoid dead spots, which equates to more money. I bought a gyre 150 and so far, couldn't be happier. It was quiet out of the box and moves much more...

    Diatoms!

Yes and no, however cyano can and does behave the same way.

    Diatoms!

I take that back. The sandbed is 100 cyano, the rocks and coral could very well be dino's. My advice would be to either add a lot more flow to see if goes away, or try a dose of chemiclean. If it starts disappearing off the rock, then it's obviously cyano.

    Diatoms!

100% cyano. Looked like my tank, which is why I thought it was dino's. I did water changes every day for a week and then added a Gyre 150. It went away in two days.

    Diatoms!

I would not use any of that algae remover. If it's cyano, you can try chemiclean, but you MUST follow the directions to a "T". I would try doing a big water change and adding more flow.

    Diatoms!

From what you are describing it's cyano. I went through the same thing. It would start out dusty on the sand bed and by the afternoon, it would be long and stringy. I thought it was dino's, but it wasn't. I ditched my MP 40's and went with a Gyre 150. It went away in two days.

    Ich

I am going to agree to disagree. In my experience FW dips do nothing for ICH. There's also a whole long thread about it on another forum. Not sure. If it worked for you. Great.

Are you sure it was ICH?

    Ich

My tank is being ripped apart due to ICH or Velvet. I am going to research this drug, but what I do know is, fresh water dips do nothing by stress the fish out. They do not work for ICH.

    Mixing tangs?

I've got a Yellow Mimic and Yellow Scopas Tang together in mine. They all get along. The Yellow Scopas is on the big side too.

    New Wrasse!

It was after I dumped the bag into the bin. He managed to stay still for a few seconds and I was able to snap it.
