    Betta eyes?

Hi there. This looks like fluid buildup behind the eyes. However that is usually a symptom of other disorders. As long as there are no other changes in behaviour or physical appearance, your fish should be ok and it might just be the way the fish looks. You should moniter the water parameters...

Goldfish has dropsy - should i euthanize?

I have been caring for freshwater fish for 11 years and this is byfar one of the worst cases of dropsy i have ever seen. Its eyes are completely filled with fluid and its body is so hevily bloated. You need to euthanize it or take it to a professional to do it asap. Sorry to be blunt but this...

Goldfish has dropsy - should i euthanize?

Hi everyone, I adopted two goldfish from my grandparents last week and I soon realized one of them has dropsy. I've been trying to treat it for the past six days, but I have no idea how long she's had it. I've tried metrodinozol, all cure pills, infection remedie, and epsom salts. Her swelling...

    Oranda staying in corner

That's good to hear! That's a quick turnaround. It's supposed to take a few days to see improvements. Make sure you do frequent water changes to cycle out the built up fluids that she releases. I'm glad there's an improvement, that's always a good sign!

    Pregnant goldfish?!??

Yes, I'm going to start feeding her peeled peas and broccoli. As for the spikes, yes they have gone down but that's a result of the Epson salts. The pressure in her abdomen has been released so her scales went down. It's just a question of whether she suffered organ damage because of the...

    Oranda staying in corner

I'm glad to hear you got her out. Just make sure you start feeding her rich foods such as pellets or insects along with the peas. She won't eat much for a while but try and be persistent. Also, no matter what you read on the internet, please do not give up on her. There are far too many people...

    Pregnant goldfish?!??

Thanks for the suggestion! I live in Toronto and my nearby pet stores don't carry that. I did however buy Mariland's equivalent medication and added it to Pam's quarantine tank. I also added 3 teaspoons of epsom salt to her 4 gallons of water. She is moving around a lot more, but she's still not...

    Oranda staying in corner

Hi Mona. My goldfish has dropsy so I've done a fair bit of research on it and it seems like your Oranda has it too. However, I think you caught it early, so treatment might be possible. These are the symptoms you should look out for: -Grossly swollen belly -Scales stand out (pinecone...

    Pregnant goldfish?!??

Thanks a lot for the help. I'm very new to fish keeping. I just did some research on dropsy and it looks like pam has it. I will definitely quarantine Pam and attempt salt treatment and some antibacteria, but this seems too far progressed. I'm just hoping this isn't an infection, otherwise I...

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and I have a very urgent question. I'm not sure if my goldfish is carrying eggs or if it has an infection. Sorry in advance for the long message. I really want to be thorough. Back story: I received 2 goldfish from my grandparents yesterday, as they could no...
