    GBR with heath issue

I was thinking it might be 84 or higher. I've only seen dropsy in rams myself when tank temperature is elevated for some time and when tank maintenance is neglected. Did you keep up on the water changes?

    GBR with heath issue

Just curious here, but what was the temp of the tank?

    GBR with heath issue

Nope, you need a broad spectrum gram negative as well as a broad spectrum gram positive. Epsom salts will reduce fluids but aquarium salts won't do much.

    Clear poop, bad?

Good news it seems. It would be nice to try and see what the excrement looks lke to help identify the cause.

    GBR with heath issue

You can try an epsom salt bath to drain some of the fluids. 1/2 teaspoon per 1 gallon is what I hear the proper dose is. Keep an eye on the fish while it is in the bath for 15-20 mins. This might help drain some stuff and relieve pressure and bloating. If successful, you might want to do it...

    GBR Sex Challenge

Then you misunderstood the replies given. Go back to the thread here: http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f15/question-about-german-blue-rams-193715-4.html and look at post #33. The top two pictures that you called "fish #1" with the black on the anterior edge of the pelvic fins are of your...

    GBR with heath issue

Looks like dropsy to me, which is a buildup of fluids in the body cavity. I've seen this before and rams tend to have a low success rate in overcoming it. It may be too late to treat. Did this come on very rapidly? You will want to maintain your water temperature at 84-86 degrees and treat...

Hexamita and/or hole in head in GBR?

Ouch, your male is looking pretty bad. Not only does he have HITH, but his pelvic fins are shortened too. You need to medicate with metronidazole and get the tank temp up to 90 degrees and add an extra source of air to the tank. If you do this, you may see the holes shrink and gradually...

    Clear poop, bad?

Gboy66 - your fish doesn't look constipated to me as I don't see any signs of bloating or roundness of the belly. I actually think the opposite...your fish appears to be thin in my opinion.

    Clear poop, bad?

You completely missed my point, and nowhere did I recommend keeping wild caught fish in water parameters that don't match the conditions that they are used to in the wild, which is what you are hinting with your reply. Using only one example and hoping you would see the benefit of a non-neutral...

    Bamboo Shrimp Freaking Out

These shrimp are filter feeders and need a current to survive. If there isn't sufficient flow of the water, the shrimp may simply be trying to escape in order to survive. Increase the currents in the tank and see what happens.

    Single Discus!

Not a good idea as discus should be kept in groups. I guarantee you that if you are in the United States I can give you contact information with sellers that will have you saying "I can't believe I almost bought that and paid the same for it." Where are you located?

    Starting 29g GBR Pair/Community Tank

A 29g tank will limit the types of fish that you can keep with rams. Discus, angelfish, and cories all make good tankmates, but I wouldn't keep any of them with rams in a 29g tank, with the exception of cories. A 29g tank doesn't have a huge footprint and the rams and cories would spend most...

    GBR Sex Challenge

Okay, then there is some confusion here. You posted in another thread a picture of your rams and from that and from the private messages we exchanged it sounded like the dominant one was the female, which we had no difficulty in sexing. The female fish (dominant one from what you've told me)...

    Starting 29g GBR Pair/Community Tank

Microgeophagus ramirezi are not cave dwellers, which is one of the reasons why they were removed from the genus Apistogramma (and other various reasons contributed to this move). You can put caves in the tank but you will rarely see them enter. They would much rather prefer driftwood, pieces...
