Green Macro Algae Growing in Fuge

Well a medium sized turbo snail got grounded for knocking rocks over and got sent to the sump, so he's been eating it down here and there. It's been growing all over the rock in the fuge now, just doesn't get a chance too get real big before getting munched on

    Live Rock in Eheim 2217?

See that was one thing that's interested me in LR in a canister too..the cryptic zone. I've read the anaerobic bacteria grows a lot better in spots like that which could help a lot bringing down nitrates.

    Live Rock in Eheim 2217?

Well I've got an extraa eheim 2217 I've been running with nothing but filter floss, and the occasional bag of cat on in, but recently upgraded my Skimmer so have I have no more need for the floss... now the eheim sits empty, and I've been looking for ways to utilize it, and was thinking about...

    Tap water all that bad?!!

X2 Depending on the size of the tank, you could spend in a month buying water what it would cost to get a cheap RODI system that would last years. If money's a problem there are cheaper systems out. www.purewaterclub.com is very low priced, and for decent systems. I paid $100 for a 100gpd system...

    Flame Angel vs Coral Beauty

I don't have any personal experience with the flame angel, but from what I've read from a lot of different places is that to help keep some of the aggression down with them, you should add them to your tank very last so it won't have any "newbies" to pick on. Other than that you should be alright

    Skimmer Recomendations for 125g

Well I went with the Bubble Magus NAC-77. And all I can say, is this thing is a tank! It's real big, and skims like crazy! Definately happy with my choice! It's well built, and definately well worth the $! Would highly recommend it!!

Best fish for a saltwater newbie

X2 That's the best way to do any kind of addition to the tank. It matches the temp, ph, salinity, all that good stuff. Makes it easier on the fish to acclimate to the tank

    Skimmer Recomendations for 125g

Well I've come down to a choice between two different skimmers... And any input on which I should choose would be greatly appreciated! I've been wracking my brain trying to decide... It's between one of these 2... Bubble Magus NAC-77 (rated for 210-315gallon with two Atman 2500 pumps) ...or...

    Id this thing

On my very first Marine tank I had some problems with hair algae, and went and picked up some nice golfball sized turbo snails, and before I knew it, the hair algae was gone, and they kept it down and out from there on. Seems the turbos really like to munch on some HA. Not sure on the red HA tho

    Whirlpool Brand RO/DI Replacement Cartridges?

The price on them was definately worth finding out. You can get two 0.5micron carbon filters for $11, and two 5 micron sediment filters for $6. And Whirlpool is a rather well known and trusted brand. So I hope for some positive answers

    Whirlpool Brand RO/DI Replacement Cartridges?

I was at my local Lowes store earlier killing some time, and walked down the water purifier aisle and seen a bunch of replacement cartridges for RO systems, and seen that Whirlpool has several reasonably priced cartridges, both sediment and carbon filters at sizes that would fit any aquarium...

Can I paint plastic toys to make them safe?

I would think the main thing you should worry about with using basic toys would be any metal pieces inside them that could rust up, or the toy company possibly using a cheap paint that could flake off and possibly contaminate the tank. There's a difference in using inert plastic items (milk...

    Skimmer Recomendations for 125g

One of the only things that has kept me from completely deciding on reef octopus, is the pump. I would much prefer the bubble blaster compared to the sicce because from what I've seen the sicce has troubles starting back up from a power outtage and is a bit louder than the BB. And to get a...

    Skimmer Recomendations for 125g

I been looking at Bubble Magus skimmers as well. Seems like they are rather good quality and powerful for a rather decent price. Anyone have any experience with those?

    Skimmer Recomendations for 125g

Well I have finally saved the funds for a new skimmer for my 125g w/40g sump! I'm upgrading from a coralife super skimmer, which has worked mediocre for me while my bio load is still very small...but I knew I wouldn't want to keep it forever. I looking for a good quality skimmer that will be...
