Hello everyone,
I got a betta for my birthday 9.11.16. Since I got him, I have had some issues with is fins. Specifically his caudal (back) fin. The tank water quality is good. I am still in the cycling process (did fish in cycle ooopsie) but the ammonia levels are 0 or close to. Nitrites...
It may be a little too low. About 3/4" to 1" down from the surface. I am dealing with torn fins right now (hopefully not fin rot). That's when I found out about the panty hose test. Then realized that 3 of the plants I had had very very sharp edges. I replaced them with silk plants and sanded...
No, I don't believe it will hurt the betta. If your not sure try the panty hose test. I had a horrible sharp plastic plant that did tear his fins. That's why I use silk plants instead.

Yoy can return dead fish at Pet Smart for a full refunf or a replacement within 15 days of purchase. That's what I did.

After 15 min i always add a few tablespoons of water from my tank to the bag so they adjust to the water and the temp. I'm stumped. All my Mollie's died really fast too. I ended up having to start over in my tank. The 15gal tank i had so many issue in I was a teenager and didn't know anything...
Make sure the hammock is about 3/4" from the surface. Too far from the surface and mine didn't like it. Too close and he can't lay on it. He doesn't sleep on it but he does lay on it.

I have a hammock for my betta and he loves it. I use silk plants only. Plastic can tear the fins. Good rule is if u drag it on panty hose and it rips, it will also rip fins. Betta fins are as delicate as panty hose and can easily be torn. I didn't know this when i first got mine and had all the...
Don't add to many fish at one time. It throws the water level off and can kill your fish. When I fisrt started with my 15gal wide I added 10 neon tettras, 5 black skirted tettras, 5 dwarf frog, 2 sucker fish, and 3 snails. Yep everything died except 3 black skirted tettras. Later i added...
I'll do some looking around. I think I saw the Omega stuff at a Aquatic store here, but I don't see anything else at places like PetSmart or PetCo. Much better options at the aquatic store. Thank you.

It may be too many fish. I did this exact same thing. With dwarf frogs and Mollie's. A good rule is 1gal per inch of fish. So if u have a 3" fish and 10gal tank you should only have 3 total. Both Mollie's and tetra's are 2-3". Also adding no more than 1-2 new fish at a time. Too many fish and...
Those pictures are amazing of your betta. Benjamin I believe you called him. He's a very handsome little guy! Totally gives me hope. Were u able to see the pics that i posted to this forum? If not, let me know and I'll try again. Thank you so much for all your help and kindness. You're a treasure.
I feed him National Geographic betta pellets. They were the only one that didn't list fish meal in the first 3 ingredients (that I could find). The first 2 wks I was feeding him 3 soaked pellets twice a day. Now I feed him 3 pellets once a day. I fast him once a wk. At first i was letting the...
Thanks for the advice. I don't have an intake tube. Again built in filter which is behind a wall. Only small vent slats on the wall for the intake. Absolutly no way to put a cover on it. But i did get that figured out. I only added the salt once to help with healing. I'm not adding crap to the...
Thank you so much. I posted some pictures of him so everyone can see what his fins look like. I am not sure how to get his reflection gone. I did notice yesterday that he was not only flaring a ton but was attacking the glass where his reflection is. After reading that flaring can cause ripped...
