I have a 5 gallon tank I'm setting up to use as a planted tank. I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on this style light or advice. I see that finnex has a 10" clip on planted light that has good reviews for low-medium light plants. I'd like to find something to grow everything but realize...
I've been bad with keeping up with the tank, Sniper. Real life/work got in the way the last couple of weeks and I haven't been able to give it the time it needs.

My nitrates are higher then I like them. Nothing dangerous. Just didn't know which way I should go about fixing it. I will do a few smaller changes for a few days and see if that gets me where I need to be.

Is it better to do a larger water change, 50-75% of the tanks volume at one time or to do several 10-20% changes every day/every other day to get the tank back to where it needs to be ?

That's a good suggest. But I think I'm going to swing by the hardware store and pick up some inexpensive timers for the time being. My tank is only a few months old and I should start shopping smarter so I can continue to stock it.

It's similar to that one. Mine is white with two yellow and two blue outlets. What reefer said makes sense about the refugium. I was trying to find a all in one device instead of having several timers

I currently have a power strip with a built in digital timer. It has eight outlets. Four that are constantly on and four that are programmable. The four that are programmable are considered day time and night time, two of each. While the day times are on the nights are off and vice versa. The...
Thanks for the feedback. Were you referring to my tank currently being lightly stocked or after I pick up the last two fish? The fifth fish if I do go through with it will be another small fish.

I have a 40 gallon breeder tank set up. I currently have two clowns and one banggai. I will be picking up one more Cardinal and a fifth fish. I haven't decided on the last fish yet but, I was wondering how do you tell how "full" your tank is? I want to keep a light load in the tank as I'm...
I took the shrimp out waiting for all my readings to get to zero then I was going to throw some liquid ammonia in the tank and see if it gets rid of it in 24 hours

I started my cycle with a raw shrimp. I've always read about doing it this way. But I guess I never fully read how to or misunderstood how to do it. I stuffed the shrimp in panty hose and threw it in the tank and just left it. I didn't realize you were only suppose to use the shrimp to raise the...
I have a glass top for the tank. I haven't looked at blennys. I'll check that one out. Thanks for the reply.
I have a yellowtail damsel now and my daughter likes to call him dory. That's about the closest thing we will get to a tang and the only fish I really know that is blue and yellow. I...
I have a 40 gallon breeder that I will be stocking. I was wondering if you guys could give me your input on what I've came up with so far.
2x kauderns cardinals
1x orange goby. Either orange strip prawn or orange spotted goby.
1-2x ocellaris clownfish
I will probably get a shrimp or something...
