Mf is right. I put small plants with my Africans they destroyed them. However they didn't touch the more long bushy fern things. Don't know the name but they don't really have leafs.
Sounds toxic to me. I would just use silicone and put rocks and sand all over.I'm going to start my background with that in mind. Would look better anyway. Make sure to get aquarium safe silicone.
Cichlids are pretty hardy and one way to make this process quicker is take water from your old tank and put it into your new one along with filter. I personally after doing that as long as temperature is right would move my fish in. I've never lost a fish using that process and have moved my...
Does it smell? If it does usually that is from over feeding. Keep up the water changes maybe slow down on the feeding and possibly look into more suitable filtration if your filters arnt capable for the bio load. Make sure to add active carbon that will help keep your water clear. Another note...
I like peacocks and haps when you buy them as juvis they look dull but the males soon color up. That's another question do you want an all male set up? That's what I'm pretty much doing myself other then 2 peacocks that turned out female a kenyi a hap and a krib. Rest are males but it's been...

However if you haven't bought the tank even a 60 gallon isn't much more in price then a 30. Try checking the classifieds and ads. Very good deals out there. I see 90 gallons for 100 dollars. You will likely want to expand soon too. It's addicting.
With a 30 gallon you have atleast 6 months to a year before you would need to upgrade. Mbunas don't grow very large for the most part 5-6 inches usually is the biggest. Get them at 1 inch or so and watch them grow. 4-6 is a good amount if you plan to keep them in the 30. Don't add any plecos if...
Just grow it out as long as there's no problems. First sign of aggression get rid of it. Besides juvis of any fish can look like many others. I doubt a 1 inch can catch up in size with your Oscar any time soon
