I am planning on using soil with a sand cap and my substrate. I have over 80 pounds of stone I plan on using to scape the tank (75 gallon) and a few are pretty heavy. Sound I place the substrate in first then the stone or the stone then try to layer the substrate around it?
On one hand I...
I am setting up a 75 gallon planted tank. Looking to do low tech, no CO set up. All my (limited) experience with planted tanks is with nanos so I have no idea what to do for lighting on a tank this size. Any suggestions, preferably ones that won’t break the bank?
I am looking to take my 10 gallon nano and upgrade it to a 30 gallon
I would like to use an overflow to get water down to a sump because i'm not going to drill into the side of the tank (bottom is tempered)
with money being no major issue, build me a tank so i can get ideas as to good...
What fish do you already have in your tank? If you can and you are having major algae issues, you can think about something like a blenny in your tank to help you out.
Here's a silly question then...I have a 12 gallon nano, with maybe 10 gallons of water in it but i doubt even that much (22 lbs of rock in the tank, LR rubble in the filter compartments and sand taking up the rest of the volume)...wouldn't dripping for that long use up A LOT of my water volume?
So my cycle is done on my tank...nirtates are reading 20 after a 10% PWC yesterday (ammonia and nitrites are 0)
I have never had any issue adding a clean up crew to a tank...I never did a long drip acclimation or anything like that, just floating the bag, adding water slowly and the releasing...
You can move around your rock to re-aquascape your tank. I think most people will tell you they move things around time and time again until they find the look that they really like. Just keep an eye on your shrimp if you are worried about smashing him, but even then i wouldn't worry too much...
What type of salt do you use? I read recently in this post
http://www.aquariumadvice.com/viewtopic.php?t=96843&highlight=cyano&sid=965b8d97d38d0d71c5902b13dd402dff
that Instant Ocean salt mix may contribute to cyano
IMO since you already have the fish and it has lived for months seemingly happily in your tank, the smart thing to do would be to hold on to it. If you took it back to the LFS then the chance of it surviving will greatly decrease, but like i said, that's just my opinion!
I've done salt water tanks in the past...I had a 90 gallon reef and a 55 FOWLR in the past. I've moved since then and haven't had a SW tank in over a year, and I missed it so much I couldn't stay away any longer. I don't have room in my apartment for anything big, so I decided to go the nano...
Sorry if I'm boring everyone with a stocking question! I have a 12 gal nano cycling right now....about 21/22 pounds of LR in the tank and LR rubble in the back compartments
I really like the way the LR looks and want some suggestions of fish that will be active swimming through out the...
I am having an issue with the sand settling in my 12 gallon tank. I set it up a week ago....sand and LR
After 3 days of the tank still being very cloudy i got a HOB to run and have been changing out the filter pad twice a day (this is just for getting the tank to clear up, not for normal...
