    Amazon Sword Troubles

Ah okay. Should I trim the chewed leaves? Anything I should do to help prevent more of it being eaten by something?

    Amazon Sword Troubles

Hi everyone, I bought a large sword plant yesterday with mostly large green leaves and a few of them were different in colour, with a purpleish colour and dark veins. I think these are newer leaves, as there are tiny leaves similar in colour starting to grow from the main stem. Today I wake up...

Did I just ruin my pot by boiling driftwood in it?

I'll try all the above. I got impatient with soaking it as I have been doing that for a month and the water was still running yellowy so decided to boil it. Boy did a lot of tannins leak out. Thanks everyone! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Did I just ruin my pot by boiling driftwood in it?

Not yet, I'm gonna let it soak overnight then try scraping it with a razor blade as you said tomorrow. This is gonna scratch up the pot bad..

Did I just ruin my pot by boiling driftwood in it?

I picked up a piece of root wood (don't know what kind, looks similar to type in the following picture): and boiled it in a stainless steel pot for about 3 hours and when I drained the pot of the tannin filled water, I noticed small little brownish bumps stuck on the bottom of the pot. It's...

Help ID: Hydra or Bryozoan? Picture and Video included

That is excellent to know. Guess I was freaking out over nothing serious! I was watching the snail to see if she would eat it but she seemed to just glide right over them. I'll scrub the tank clean and change 30% water. Thanks!

Help ID: Hydra or Bryozoan? Picture and Video included

Hi everyone, Freshwater Tank, newly cycled. These started appearing more and more, mostly near the bottom half of the tank where water flow is the strongest. I used a sinking bottom feeder disc a couple days ago that disintegrated overnight and spread fluffy food bits everywhere, which in turn...

4 Days into Cycling, Ammonia level hasn't changed

I thought so as well. I shook the test solution for a good couple of minutes before I added the drops.

4 Days into Cycling, Ammonia level hasn't changed

As per your advice, I checked nitrates and they were 0 as well. I called the LFS to inquire about their product, and he told me that the tank "might have mini-cycled" and that "because of the effectiveness of the bacteria, you didn't even get any readings because they work so quickly." He also...

4 Days into Cycling, Ammonia level hasn't changed

I actually haven't tested nitrates once, since nitrites have never appeared yet. I'm not sure how they make it but a friend who used to work there and told me they have a guy that bottles it for them and delivers every week.

    10 Gallon Bottom Cleaners

An Otocinclus would work as they only get up to 2", but your tank is pretty full. Try switching to floating pellets or flakes instead.

4 Days into Cycling, Ammonia level hasn't changed

I tested my pH on Day 2 and it was at 7.8 so bacteria should have no problems. And BBradbury, I have done research and I know how the cycle is supposed to work, I posted because I found it odd that the ammonia level hasn't increased in 4 days with no trace of nitrites, although the fish are...

4 Days into Cycling, Ammonia level hasn't changed

Hi everyone, I'm doing a fish-in cycling in a 26g bowfront, Fluval C3 filter, two pieces of driftwood, sand substrate, small pebbles, 3 larger rocks, and plastic plants. Fish in the tank are 4 x Harlequin Rasboras, 2 x Black Neon Tetras, and 6 x Neon Tetras. They are all schooling and feeding...

    Stocking 26g Bowfront

Hi everyone, I just wanted to go over my stocking list before I get fish. I am prepared to do more maintenance work than most in order to go over the loosely followed inch per gallon rule. Here is the list: 1 x Pearl Gourami 5 x Harlequin Rasboras 6 x Neon Tetras 2 x Black Neon Tetras 1 x...
