    Signs of a Parasite?

Is it sort of white and fuzzy? Or is it more like a lesion?

Are Liquid Pond Plant Fertilizers Good In Tanks?

Make sure to check exactly what is in the fert, and be sure not to over-dose as it could harm the fish. Otherwise should be fine.

    First Co2 reactor....

Don't leave it on at night, the plants won't use up the co2, and it will run the risk of killing some fish due to decreased oxygen. I use a double valve setup, that allows me to close the aquariums valve, and open a valve that is open into the air at night. This way co2 doesn't build up in the...

    New tank problems

Go for Epalzeorhynchus siamensis, they will readily eat hair algae. Sometimes they will be labeled as Flying Foxes, Chinese Algae Eater, or Siamese Algae Eater. As usual many LFS' will mis-label them, so be sure you are getting the correct fish, which is the SAE. You may also consider Cherry...

    Filter ?

Something I've done before is taken those kitchen pot scrubbers made of that sort of plasticy nylon material. These work great as biological filter media on their own (especially useful in sumps) but if you unravel them, you find out that they are essentially very long sheets of this mesh rolled...

Lighting Cycle Poll - What time does your light come on?

I like to let the natural light come into my house for two hours before I have the timer set to turn on. This way it's not just a dark to full brightness transition and it's a little more natural.

    parasite or???

The worms I believe are harmless, and some of your fish may actually enjoy eating them. I had a betta that would pick those off the glass. The photo didn't work for me however, so I can't be sure.

    Mysterious Fish Deaths

Hmmm... Heater shorting... That might be a possibility. Well, the nitrates aren't zero, but they are very very low. The test kit shows minimal. The plants do indeed photosynthesize, I've got them on a good light cycle. I just returned from vacation, and we lost another guppy, but she had...

    Mysterious Fish Deaths

No gasping at all. We have two HOB filters running, but I suppose I could get some extra oxygen in there with a bubbler or something. The tank has been running for about a year and a bit.

    Mysterious Fish Deaths

Hey there, So, say you've got a 36 gallon fresh water community tank. It's over-filtered, has excellent lighting, and is well planted with live plants. We supplement the plants with C02 only (1 bubble per second, on a timer with the lights so CO2 doesn't run at night) and the temperature is...

    Greetings hello, yes hello

Greetings all, from the Great Snowy North. I'm a fairly experienced aquarium enthusiast, though I currently do not have any tanks of my own, my girlfriend has two tanks that I help her with. In the past I've had puffers, your run of the mill community tanks (guppies, mollies, dojo loaches...
