I’d take another vote for spawning activity. Mine only do this while spawning and they seem to do it with no rhyme or reason. Got at least 30 Cory hatched out of the last spawning session from them!
I don’t know about 3-5 eggs at a time tho, any time my Cory have spawned there’s literally a...
That is a pretty hefty bioload, but overstocking isn’t just a clear cut line
If the fish aren’t physically affected from the overcrowding (have room to swim) and you’re able to keep water parameters at an acceptable level with an amount maintenance that you are comfortable with, the tank is...
I’d have to strongly agree with the above. A 5g just isn’t large enough for multiple fish especially if it is heavily planted. It’d be like throwing you in the broom closet and adding a fan to ventilate it and saying it’s got lots of fresh air so you’ll be fine lol
This is definitely the...
There are dissolved oxygen test kits available but as long as you have some agitation at the surface you should be fine. I don’t use air stones in any of my tanks, but the filters provide a fair bit of surface agitation which accomplishes pretty much the same thing as using an air stone
What are the water parameters? What kind of setup do you have (20g long/tall/ect, filter, air stone?)
9 barbs and a handful of khuli loaches would be a decent bio load for a 20g tank.
What type of test kit are you using? I’ve had an older (but still almost a year from expiring) api kit start...
I also have 2 different flavours of Cory and similar findings.
Generally they stick together in species specific schools, but there’s times that they all hang out together. Generally it seems my pandas are more social, I see them out more often during the day whereas the peppers tend to hide...
Like mentioned I’d also have to say this is a water quality issue. Unfortunately most pet shops don’t care or even the employees don’t know how to properly set up a tank. In the end it usually end up like this unfortunately
Please read the links Aiken posted and get familiar with the nitrogen...
Definitely wouldn’t risk that big of a tank on a dresser. Like mentioned an aquarium is really heavy for their size and even that 20g is going to hold 160lb in water alone, I wouldn’t risk putting any more weight on it than that!
Like also mentioned, be careful with used tanks. I realize that...
That was to you. With what you originally posted for stocking with the 9 glo tetra, 3 red eye and now 7 Cory would be a pretty comfortable bioload on a 20 gal.
I don’t think you’d have to move the red eye’s out of the tank at all, just watch the tank fairly close for a while and make sure...
It’s general consensus to keep Cory’s in a school of 6 or more, but like mentioned I’m sure 3 is just fine, I don’t think I’d put just one in there though!
I started out with 3 in my 75 as that was all that I could get at the time and they seemed just as happy as they are now with 6 of them...
Anything that is a fine powdery substance can be flammable and explosive so that really means nothing. Aluminum powder is explosive lol
No Colour change or anything noticeable happened in the tank
Yea it worked and didn’t seem to cause any other harm so I’m pleased with it!
It’s probably one of those dumb things that made out of common materials worth next to nothing and they’re making a $20 profit per package lol
That’s why I was skeptical to use it at first because they don’t outright list ingredients or anything. But if you look at the sds it’s a “proprietary salt blend”, another reason I didn’t really want to resort to using it with the plecos and Cory in the tank as there seems to be a mixed review...
