I messed up and my poor guppy lost his dorsal fin.
So I remove water from my tank to test with a 5 ml. dull tipped syringe. I do this instead of dipping the tube in for two reasons. The first being the tank is on a desk with a very expensive laptop and TV. Avoid spilling water. Second, I clean...
Right now I have two male guppies in a 5.5 gallon tank who are doing very well for the most part. They sometimes get a little rowdy, but no nipping or bullying. They're active and colorful. Once this tank is cycled I'm going to be adding some RCS as well.
I wouldn't recommend more than two...
In my area the FW kit runs from $30-35. Having never owned an SW tank I'm not familiar with the specifics, but I paid $29.99 for the SW kit today.
I already found the FW cards online, so I'll just print them out. Thanks everyone!
I posted this in FW General, thought I may try here too.
Went out to buy a test kit today for my FW tank. Didn't notice till home that I'd bought the API Saltwater Master kit by mistake. The only difference I can tell in the kits is that the SW kit doesn't have the low pH test the FW does.
Can...
Purchased a new test kit today as I moved and lost the old one in transition. When I got home I noticed I had purchased the API Saltwater kit instead of the Freshwater. The chemicals appear to be the same, except that the SW kit doesn't have the low pH test that I know the FW kit has.
What I...
That's probably the way I'll go, 2m and 1f.
I know they eat leftovers so would they be ok with a moss ball and leftovers? Or should I pickup some pellets or algae wafers.
So do you think a colony would do ok? I'm thinking of doing three adults to start, either three males or two males and a female to prevent overpopulating.
Thoughts? My biggest concern is overcrowding a small tank.
I have a bed of Dwarf Hair Grass, would that do? I could also add a moss ball.
I know that a breeding tank should be separate ideally, but I'd be ok with a colony with the guppies. My concern is that I may wind up with too many shrimp for a 5G tank. Would they be ok as all males or females?
I'm definitely not planning on making any additions until its cycled and stable. How many shrimp are we talking for a colony? I wasn't expecting this tank to be handle more than a single mystery snail or several shrimp (along with the guppies).
I don't really have a lot of experience with...
Hey there! I recently got back into aquariums and fish after a long break (10+ years without a tank). Since I'm trying to get back into the basics and don't have much room at the moment I started with a basic 5 gallon. I'm using the included 15W bulb and filter, and a 50W heater. Its planted...
