I have 3 of the African Dwarf Frogs. I used to have a Black Ghost Knife and it was suggested that I thaw the frozen blood worms in a cup of water and suck up the solution in a turkey baster and squirt it into the tank near the fish in order to help keep it away from the others. I use the...
Ya, there are a number of parts of the website seem to be missing. Like the site is still in the process of being built. That doesn't necessarily mean that they are not legit though.
The pictus was my guess too. I checked the filter and didn't find anything that could have been remains. The pictus is approximately 4.5" and they could have fit in it's mouth. I have another tank which I will be keeping the smaller fish in from now on.
I have a 29gal tank set up with a male betta, 2 lyre tail mollies, a pictus cat, and a upside down catfish (or dwarf pleco). I purchased 2 neon tetras and 3 sunburst platys. Overnight the neons and one of the platys were gone. I have since moved the platys to another tank but I need to figure...
I have a Penguin 150 hob. I have read that many people prefer the Aqua Clear hob to the Penguin. I like the Penguin though, the filter that came with the tank from WalMart just wasn't cutting it for me.
You could try Flourish. I use it in my 29 gal with low light plants planted in a gravel substrate and it does improve the plants appearance a bit. The flourite and other plant substrates release the nutrients directly to the root of the plant though. There are fertilizer tabs available that you...
I recently put some in my 20 gal tank. I chose to put sand on top of it but now I think that that wasn't such a good idea. The flourite made the water very cloudy brown and then the brown dust kinda settled on top of the sand and the slightest movement caused the water to cloud up again. I...
I had this problem in a 10 gal tank of mine. The 4 day blackout should work to kill the bacteria. I would probably do a daily 10% water change during the blackout just to help get the bacteria out of the tank as it dies off.
Ya, my betta likes to hide in the hole at the top. I used to have a ghost knife and it liked to hide in there too. I had to return the ghost knife though because he would have soon outgrown the tank and I don't have the money for a bigger one yet.
I saw a contraption at Pet Smart the other day. It appeared metal blades for cutting and plastic blades for planting. I don't remember the price but it might be worth looking into.
I have a 29 gal tank and had many of the same problems. I found that by upgrading from the crappy HOB that came with the tank to the Penguin that I have now that my paramaters have balanced out quite well. I also increased the frequency of my PWC's to weekly instead of bi-weekly. Hang in there...
