Depends on the type of pleco. Some eat plants, some eat meat some eat both. Size in the end is also a big factor. A common pleco which is sold pretty cheap in almost all fish stores are pleco's that get up to 24" long. Yep that big. Some plecos are smaller and better suited for smaller tanks.
I...
I am a PIctus lover and collect them. I like the White Pim and Spotted Pims as they get even bigger. Got two 8" pork chops that are the best fish ever.
They will eat your neons. Mine have lived great (even the larger ones) with White Tetra, Serpae Tetra and even glass. Once the pictus is grown...
My 55gl had 2 clown loaches that started signs of ich, because of previous issues with clown loaches I moved them into a 10gl tank (they are like 2in) and treated them and my 55gl tank. With heat only at this point.
My heat is to 85F having problems getting it up there with two heaters. Trying...
I just hit the heater in my 55gl up a tad, will do more in the morning. More in the afternoon. I already run it at 80F so it wont take long to get it up to where I need it.
I wont add salt to the 10gl just do what I got planned besides the salt and hope it works.
1 problem. When small loaches...
I have another 29 gl tank that is QT but has some tetra in it that are not done with QT so that is why that is ruled out, bad timing.
I moved the bullhead into the 55gl (crossing fingers) and put the betta from the 10gl into the bowl. He is pouting.
I added ich treatment to the 10gl ich guard...
I had a tank crash that started with ich and something else (bacterial maybe) a few months back. I lost 4 spotted pictus, 5 clown loaches and several tetra. My tank recovered with what I had left. I tried the heat/salt method and had horrible results. I tried ich meds for scaleless fish and had...
I need both because of the fish I have. It gets confusing but...
Coming out of my 55gl there are various fish that need different tanks as they grow. It boils down to the need for a 75 and a 125+
My 55gl I want to keep for my smaller fish that I enjoy keeping. Which by the way the betta in the...
Okay, to quell posts about stocking.
I plan to have a 55,75,125+ tanks for my family of fish. They are all in "growing out" phase and are still small. Stocking is not an issue right now, they will never be overstocked or in a tank to small for them. I am far enough into fish keeping to...
Right away in the LFS I knew he was a type of bullhead. I brought him home took pics and right away did a ID On planetcatfish. Hard as his small size to be sure, but many are pretty sure it is a Spotted Bullhead they get to 11"
He has a pattern on his body so it makes it a bit easier.
Snail...
I got them at Petsmart. They are Marina LED light sets. It didnt require me wiring them in to my lights etc. I have the hub in the back and turn it on as I turn the big lights off. Works well for a testing phase for me to see if I like them.
I am leaving the moonlights on when the big lights...
Need some betta advice. Two different betta's and two different issues.
We bought a betta two weeks ago or so (Kaz), I have one already in a 10gl tank with only a tiny bullhead as a tank mate. The Betta in the 10gl tank is Bubbles.
Bubbles fins are starting to look ratty. This all started...
edit: The moonlights are not as bright as the picture makes them seem to be. It is a long exposure with no flash, plus the entire back of my tank is a bubble curtains so the lit up bubbles moving up the back in the long exposure increased the light a lot. The light is actually very dim and soft...
I agree the cost of Biospira well makes up for the headache of trying to deal with a cycling tank!!! Do NOT use cycle in the bottle on the shelf! Biospira should be in a fridge and worth every penny.
Ive used it twice and it worked like a charm!! The last time was after a huge sickness...
Here is the spotted bullhead (crossing my fingers that ID stays true!) because 11" is realistic to keep! lol I dont have pics of the others yet, coming soon! Bullhead is hard to take pics of, I even took the guy out of water to get as best of pics as I could for ID but he is so small :(
