I have been occasionally skimming local classifieds to see what tank prices are. First, I noticed most listings are for complete setups (pump, etc), which is fine, but I'd rather use my own equip. I am surprised about the prices on the few bare tanks I have found...people want almost $1/gallon...

That is good advice. I have also kept fish in buckets and muck buckets (15-20gal) for short term, emergency type situations. Not ideal, of course, and I'm sure some fish do better than others in such conditions. It's good to think about what you might have to use in an emergency. Hopefully...
