I have 3 out of my 6 emerald cory have missing barbells and white on the front fins? I think they are fins. I have included a picture, its kinda hard to see but there is a white spot and the other side looks worse. Any idea what it is?
Currently I am using well water in my 55gallon aquarium. Using the API GH test I get around 34drops. I was looking at the python water changer. That would hook up to my soft water faucet which reads around 1/2drops. Will I have any issues switching over to soft water for my water changes?
I started out with 3 albino corys two weeks ago and lost one within a few days. I replaced it and added two more for a total of 5 albinos. Between two days ago and today I have lost 3 more leaving only two left. I currently have 5 emerald cory, 2 DG and 12neon tetras. All those fish are healthy...
I have a dual outlet million air 600 pump running two air stones. I have check valves installed about 12" past the pump. They don't seem to work. I always get back siphoning no matter what I try, I checked the valves and they are installed correctly. Any one use a particle brand that they like...
My son likes them, I am going to separate the aggressor out today and see how the other one reacts once the bully is gone. The fish store said to add a third one but if one is constantly hiding I would assume the other two would start fighting until one either dies or goes into hiding him self?
Two weeks ago I started stocking my new 55gal. Currently there are 12neon tetras, 5emerald cory cats, 5 albino cory cats and 2 male dwarf gouramis. One of the DG is the aggressor and one hides a lot. Some days both will be out and fine but over the past couple of days the aggressor has not...
I thought about about a GBR as well. I have two DG males, 12 Neon tetras, 10 cory cats. The GBR like warmer water from what I have read. I keep tank aroun 76/78deg. I will be adding 8/9 harlequin rasboras this week then a angel fish or bolivian ram last. The boivian rams prefer cooler water from...
I have received this response from another member. Caliban07
I read a study once where cultured bacteria that received no ammonia for up to 3 months immediately began to nitrify ammonia when a source was added. This may have been longer if the length of study permitted.
In short, I wouldn't...
Is there much difference between the types of angelfish (Pterophyllum sp)? They have platinum and blue angelfish that are around $20 for 1"to 2" or the other varieties, Gold, Marble, Black etc.. for $8 and the same size? Does any one have a personal preference?
I run a rena XPL(XP3) on a 55gal. Three baskets, bottom basket has two #20 and two #30 foam pads, middle basket has 43bio stars and top basket has two fine and two extra fine pads. That takes car of my mechanical and biological filtration. I also have a bio chem sorb pouch that I have not used...
I will give a update on the two male DG. They have only been in the tank for a week now. The past couple of days the one would hide a lot and when it did come out it would get chased/followed. It would stay hidden for the morning and afternoon feedings and once it came out and isolated itself I...
I just started and went with a 55gal. So far it has been enjoyable for me and my son. Just be patient with the cycle. There is some really good advice on this forum and using the guide I found to cycle really helped and within 35days we were stocking the tank.
I would take ScotJudd advice. It doesn't sound like your tank is cycled. You should have Nitrates in the water. I have heard most people say to keep them under 40ppm unless you add sensitive fish that number would be much lower. If all you have is Neons with a cycled tank, you shouldn't have any...
