My tank FINALLY cycled! This morning the ammonia and nitrites were zero! Yippie. Is there anything that could happen to cause the cycle to break?

I thought this was a piece of hardware like a filter rather than a product added to the water.

I just saw an ad on here for Aquaripure. It claims to rid your tank of nitirtes. Does anyone know about this filter and if it is really what the ad says it is? Is it simple to operate like my HOB or is it like a canister filter which I had nothing but trouble with?

I bought a better test kit tonight and it showed the following results: Ph 7.6 Ammonia 2.0 Nitrite 2.0 Nitrate 5.0

They are strips.

From what I can remember this morning the temp was 80 f., the water was on the alkaline side, nitrite was on the high side and nitrate were low. I don't remember the kit having a test for ammonia.

Sorry, I meant Nitrite not Nitrate levels were high. I don’t remember the exact reading but I do remember that it was high on the color chart. From what I remember this morning the spots on the Molly's tail just appear to be white dots. Would copper sulfate work on ich? I'm going to be going on...

No. I had a internal filter working with the media for bacteria in it and I left that running. I also put in a bacteria seed to help the tank which I purchased at the fish store. The test I ran on the water indicated all levels were fine. The fish don't appear stressed.

You may be right. I found another fish dead on the filter when I got home last night. You'd think the strainer would be better tested before it went to market. The two fish that died appeared to be perfectly healthy.
