Does anyone know a good place to buy Discus within a couple hours drive from Albany NY?

Would I be OK adding Discus to my planted tank?

Thanks, but Ouch! 8O That's my wallet talking. From what I've seen adult discus are much more expensive. And I've read that I should add them all once, or is that just with juvies? I planned on adding 4 or 5 to the tank. Could I add 2 or 3 at a time? Is there a good place to buy Discus fairly...

Would I be OK adding Discus to my planted tank?

Thanks! Anyone else? What is considered adult? 3"+, or 5+"? I could probably add a mid-week PWC if need be. BTW- the photo in my gallery is my old tank. I moved and haven't had time to post a photo of my new tank. It looks totally different, but thanks for the compliment. I was fond of that...

Would I be OK adding Discus to my planted tank?

I want to add some Discus I have a 60g, 24" tall, High Light, CO2 injected, heavily planted tank (Amazon Swords and many more). I have 6 Cardinal Tetras, 1 German Blue Ram, 1 Gold Nugget Pleco, 2 Siamese Algae Eaters, 4 Ottocinclus, and 1 yo-yo loach. PH= 6.8-7.2, KH=9.5, 50% WC weekly I dose...

    PH change due to CO2?

Thanks all! OK. So... My PH is usually 6.8-7.2 and my KH ranges from 8.5-9.5 I plan on getting some Discus. Let's say they need a maximum PH of 6.4 and a maximum KH of 5 (These #s are arbitrary! I haven't done my research yet). I was thinking of getting a PH controller to keep my Ph at the...

    So Sad

LOL. I had a "monster" red tail shark. It would chase my 9 Tiger Barbs around, all day long! I kept thinking they would all gang up on it. I was always worried about my other fish and I didn't think I would miss it much. But, of course, I do. It was a beautiful fish. My wife misses it too...

What Made You Want A Freshwater Aquarium?

My story is similar. But it was 2 goldfish for my daughters, from their grandmother, in a bowl!! I was determined to keep them alive, but by the time I did my research and got the 10 gallon set up they had ick and died. :( 1 year 2 Months later I'm in deep. Saving all my money to upgrade to a...

    PH change due to CO2?

I just read in another post something that surprised me. It seems like the more I learn about this hobby the less I know. Anyway... I read that PH change due to CO2 does not harm fish. Only PH changes due to KH would harm them. Am I understanding this correctly? I thought that If the CO2...

    Look at the lovely pearling...

LOL That's saying something. My wife says, and I think I agree, I don't laugh enough. Sorry about the algae  But thanks for the :D

Algae Destroying: Using Excel/Bleach/Peroxide to KILL

Holy smokes. I think that's the best algae post I ever read! Thanks! Wish I read it a month ago. I am getting rid of my BBA as I post. It's almost gone now. Upped CO2, SAEs and Excel :)

    Fert shedule? Lighting time? SSL

The plants look just OK. Some better than others. I would say it is on the lower end of Heavily planted. I dose about 5ppm every other day. Is that good? 1/2 tsp every other day isn't enough? That's 24ppm for the week. -- I'm starting to think I had a dip in CO2 levels and was unaware. I...

    DIY CO2 setup finally

I would try it without the diffuser to check. I don't think the length of tube or it being on the floor are the problem. As you said, maybe the diffuser is too restrictive. Just a thought though. I think the sealant I used had to dry overnight. Are you sure it's dry and sealed well?

overwhelming phosphate levels from my tap water!!

In the long run the RO or RO/DI unit will save you money. I'm going to buy mine soon, even though my levels aren't as bad as yours.
