The weirdest (and most amazing) fish ever

That's really interesting - did not know it. I've been trying to get hold of the series that was shown on Nat Geo - so far no luck. If anyone knows, please post. They do have some clips on the website, but apparantly there was a whole series on weird and undiscovered deep sea creatures.

    weird aquariums

wow...some really cool ones I've never seen before. I love the first one - they all seem to be interconnected. Very geeky Also love the computer ones - especially the "classic Mac" - might be a bit small though.

The weirdest (and most amazing) fish ever

Yeah, I agree but I think they live very deep. hence the transparent head. It definitely has a bit of "squid" in it's genes. Sure we will see some of them in aquariums soon:eek:

I saw this on National Geagraphic of the Pacific Barreleye Fish. It's got a transparent head and you can see it's eye balls and brain. It almost looks unreal!!! FIRST PHOTOS: Weird Fish With Transparent Head

    Did you see this?

Funny thing is on one of the photographs you can see two guys in full scuba gear cleaning it...glad it's not me. One of those tanks that's nice to look at but horrible to own. Definitely a huge attraction for the hotel - especially the fact that you can see it from the rooms. Maybe next time...

    Did you see this?

I just saw this awesome aquarium that sits in the foyer of the SAS Radisson hotel in Berlin, Germany. Basically, it's a frameless glass cylinder in the atrium of the hotel. All the rooms look out into the atrium and see this giant aquarium tank with an impressive array of fish.

    Tank Hood/Stand Ideas

mmm...my problem is not just the apartment or the tools. It's the skill ;) Great to see these tanks though - such a breath of fresh air from what you see at most shops. I suppose that when you build your own tank you put that love into it that you don't get with mass produced products.

    Tank Hood/Stand Ideas

COOL! that looks really professional...and big. Certainly has the wow factor.:eek2: I found these guys online custom aquarium gallery in Edmonton Alberta Canada - they build custom tanks mostly for public buildings like libraries and shopping malls. It's a great place to get some ideas. They...

    Heater Question

Some brands are only watertight to a certain level - I've had one where water got into it and had to get it replaced. I would just stick to what the instructions tell you and keep to the level indicator.

Nerve of some people, please read up first

I think shop owners need to take responsibility and shape up! Talking about small tanks, did you guys see the "iPond" ? It's basically an ipod that was turned into a fish tank! Yes, it's really that small and they do have a fish in there! check it out: Gizmodo - iPond Combines Portable...

Nerve of some people, please read up first

Yeah, that's seems to be the general sentiment. Maybe it's because fish can't really show their unhappiness like cats and dogs that people think they can do this. Absolute cruelty if you ask me. I think shops needs to give people as much guidance as possible, but in the end you probably can't do...

    Tank Hood/Stand Ideas

I agree. Looks way better than those bland ones you get at the stores. That's abig tank and I think it will be quite spectacular. Very good price, but it probably still needs to add filters, lights and the works - even after that it will be cheaper than even a 60 gallon kit (which is what I've got)
