    Cloudy tank question

Hello, I honestly did not know where to post this, but here it goes. I have a 55 gallon SW tank with approximately 100 pounds of live rock. I have a phosban150 with ~150mL of Vertex biopellets hooked up to a 600 gph pump (have been running for about 2 weeks), a reef octopus bh100 skimmer, and...

    Orange Bar Wrasse

The guy who helped me at the LFS made an error when talking to me about the fish. I was told me that this guy had behavior and eating habits similar to that of a fairy wrasse, but it turns out my wrasse is called a belted wrasse, which is one of the very difficult species of wrasse to keep in...

    Orange Bar Wrasse

I would like to thank everyone for their input and advice. Today I grabbed a decent supply of live brine and he ate a considerable amount of them. I'm going to start blending frozen brine in with the live guys over the next few days to hopefully convert him over to a "dead" diet.

    DIY Refugium

That would be awesome, thank you very much. And it would be impossible dimensionwise for me to keep anything bigger than 10 gallons under my stand, so anything larger is sadly out of the question.

    DIY Refugium

I figured something like that would have been difficult. I'm mainly just looking for a place to breed some pods and throw some chaeto, dropping the heater would be nice but is not necessary. (Not drilling is also a requirement)

    DIY Refugium

Hello, I am in the planning stages of making a 10 gal sump/refugium for my 55 gallon SW tank. I do not want to do any drilling for this to work, I was planning on using a 'U' tube gravity feed line (of what diameter I do not know). First compartment to house my Reef Octopus BH-100 and heater...

    Orange Bar Wrasse

The top of the tank has a cover on it, so I am not particularly worried about him jumping, but thank you for the heads up. I only seeded the tank with pods a week ago and am just concerned he will burn out the whole population before I can get him on dead food. As far as the garlic and...

    Orange Bar Wrasse

Hello everyone, Yesterday I picked up an orange bar wrasse at my LFS for my 55 gal tank, and was under the impression at that time that he, like most wrasse, would not be a problem to feed. After spending most of yesterday and last night under the sand, he came out this morning and I attempted...

    Too much light?

I was at one of the better LFS in my area and they told me that for a FOWLER 55 gal, a 4x54w T5HO (2 10k, 2 actinic) light would be too much, and would do little more than turn my tank into a hair algae bloom. I was advised to simply get a 2x54 T5HO system, and that it would be more than...

    Cycling question

Hello everyone, I did a quick search but did not see any threads in regards to this particular question. I have a 55 gallon tank that I am planning to cycle with live rock. However, I've found a few people on craigslist in my area selling live rock cheaper than I could get in a store or...

    55 Gal Start Up

I was planning on getting a 35 pound box of Fiji base rock from Drs Foster and Smith, and a 45 pound box of either the standard or the select fiji premium from the same place. My other thought was just getting 80 pounds of Fiji from Marco Rocks, but I figured the first would seed faster (and I...

    55 Gal Start Up

Hello Everyone, Long time lurker, first time poster. So I have been trying to do some research on how I would like to set up the 55 gallon (48x12x21) tank I recently got my hands on and have found some differing advice around the boards I have been checking. I want to set it up such that the...
