Thats a good idea, I had a green terror spook one day and dove into the gravel, he was completly covered and I had to dig him out. Sand might be harder to dive into like that.
Lol, actially larger tanks = less maintenance. Its cool if you can do it, always get the largest tank that you can pay for or fit in your house , it so much easier in the long run.
The smaller tanks can be used for quarentine , growout , ect or you can just stock them all over again if you want :) , the best deals on aquariums seem to be 125 gal if you really want something larger ;)
Lol they will figure out who is dominant, it might change again also but its really good that they are together while they are this young. Your red devil might accept them also when he gets big, sometimes they do if they are raised together.
Purigen works great , it does not take much and you can see when it needs to be recharged. It wont work miracles but it is a great water polisher and will remove some of the organic waste in your tank.
