im leaning more towards the open top but wanted to know if there were any upsides or downsides to either way.

putting together everything for my 55 gallon reef build and have been trying to figure out if i want to leave it open top or glass top. if i use glass will it cut down on the intesity of my 4 bulb t5's. any input or opinions one way or the other would be greatly appreciated.

You are right if it is tempered you can't drill it. I need to take mine to the glass shop to see if it is tempered as I am unsure if it is or not.

I think you would be fine adding the slimmer without waiting the two weeks. Just may not have much skimmate until the organics build up in the tank.

Depends on how many bulbs and wattage of the bulbs. I believe you may be okay for some lower light stuff. Not really sure though.
