My 55 is a standard....I believe it's 1.5 feet deep.
Tetra Whisper Deepwater Pumps are designed for deep tanks so possibly look into one of those.
Hope that helps,
Dennis
Godfan,
I use two Hydro-Sponge V's and two Fusion 700 air pumps for my 55 gallon tank. Creates heavenly water!
As for UV Sterilizers......The manufacturers decriptions sound great but with the above mentioned filters and lots of water changes one will achieve HIGH quality water.
And God is...
Hi KreativJustin,
Maybe try a different air stone. I just started using a "Silica airstone". Got it from www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com for $4.79
This Silica airstone creats smaller bubbles (less noise). The trick with airstones is you have to clean them often or replace them. Cleaning them is...
Hi nibor,
How much can you afford to spend?
For my ten gallon tank I use a glass top (under $10) and a strip light (the strip light sits on top of the glass). The strip light costs about $30 but it is a fluorescent bulb that works great for growing plants.
How's the tank cycling going with...
Hi Shamrock,
Most fish do better with alot of oxygen in the tank.
I use two Fusion Air Pumps (rated for 110 gallons each) in my 55 gallon tank.
Course I'm a Freshwater fish person......you might be saltwater....Don't know.
Dennis
Ooops....I see that 75 was your tank size.
The only way to get a TDS reading is to use a handheld TDS meter.
I would just wait & be patient. And see if the eggs hatch.
Get that 45 gallon ready. A young pair can spawn every 7-10 days
Dennis
You might just get some fry with a TDS of 75. My TDS is around 60 and I had a pretty good hatch rate.
TDS is the minerals and salt & such that is dissolved in the water.
And someimes it takes Discus a few spawns before getting it "right". Although sometimes they get it right the first time...

Hi roydooms,
I always do a big water change (50%-90%) before a dose of meds. It just depends on what your tank PH is and what your tap water PH is. If they are the same or close to the same then big water changes will definately benefit the Discus.
My belief is that meds work better in clean...

Sorry no experience with that med but daily water changes usually clear up cloudy eyes.

Hi -JD-,
I'd go for it with those water params you currently have.
More important than hardness is stable water conditions......Keep up with those water changes!
And here's some links on Marbled Hatchetfish you might find useful?

avonsurfernc,
If you're referring to the 3-pack on Aquabid.......No I haven't used this vendor before. He's got a 98.5% positive feedback rating though.
