Is your place air conditioned?
note: Air conditioners (to reduce warmer temperatures) are also de-humidifiers. That's why you never see little driplets on a cold beer or soda pop glass/cans in air conditioned places - it's also why humidifiers are often needed in baby's rooms. Adult humans...
I just did a 90% water change on my 10 gallon Beta tank this last weekend and got no complaints from my fish. I just put him in a glass pitcher (1 gallon with de-chlorinated water of course) and did my business.
I needed to make major tank changes.
Filled it all up again and "Frenchy" is...
I have had serious problems with my Beta tank. I set it up to be a really cool tank for a Beta...but then wanted to add to it (10 gallons). I put in a couple of snails and some neons which I had heard would be OK together. Nope.
Once the neons had shown to be problematic (killed the Beta) I...
It's a tough world out there M-G. I used to be a good fish parent...years ago...but I think I just got lucky. I have tried to replicate my previous success with other fish varieties and failed miserably.
Many years ago I had a tank with two fancy Angelfish and an "upside-down" catfish (we always said he was from Australia).
One day I went to do my regular 25% water change/vaccum and I took off the hood and went about getting it done - then - swoosh - the upside down catfish jumped up in the...
The space of your tank may be the key thing. Thing is, Beta's are very pretty - but odd - fish (behavior-wise). They don't fight all the time but just because they are getting along with tank-mates for awhile doesn't mean they will later.
I've only got a 10 gallon tank and had a Beta and two...
It's not a huge decision. The rocks I put in "Carib Sea Super Naturals" said they were good for saltwater too and they did pop up with a high PH. I guess I gotta get some of those "live rocks" to make everything work.
I have an undergravel running off an X-5 (great pump) - and a regular...
:(
Anyway, I'm really pumped to get my tank "off the ground" and have loved reading the important stuff that keeps me from making mistakes.
I got carried away and posted before "introductions"...my bad.
Still not sure whether to go fresh or salt but that decision will have back-up either...
I just meant to have a couple fish to get the under-gravel system working. I also have a good sponge filter...just want to get the tank going.
I don't mean to be a pain - but most of us want to have fish when we have a tank. I'd just like to have a nice freshwater tank that I can run and...
Just starting my new tank and Betas look cool (but sad - generally in small containers)...can I just buy a couple and put their cups in the water for a bit and then let them go in my new 29?
They are attractive fish and surely they would be good "starter fish" if they can live in cups.
Folks...
I mentioned to my son that I had a 29 gallon aquarium in the past and "walla" he gave me one.
Of course it was a Walmart tank and I have since reinforced it with more silicone.
Anyway - did a water test and it holds water.
Requested advice: It did not come with a pump and I always liked...
