In my HOB I took my filter pad and carbon out and added purigen and an extra bag of ceramic rings. I have a filter pad on my intake to keep the big particles as well as baby shrimp out.

Red cherry shrimp are easy to care for and reproduce quickly. As long as you have enough hiding spots the shrimp will still reproduce. Guppies will eat baby shrimp but if you have enough cover the colony will still grow.
