    Phosphate and Green Spot Algae

I'm having an issue with GSA. It's growing on almost all my plants, especially the Anubias and Amazon sword. My phospates are testing at .5 on the Seachem test at day 7 just prior to weekly water change. 29 gal I run Fluval 3.0 light at 10 hours with 1-2 bps C02 and am dosing Seachem ferts...

    API vs LFS Nitrate tests

I did test my tap water and it showed 0 nitrates so I guess it's picking up something. I tried a few more API test strips and they're now saying trace nitrates like the LFS but the API liquid is still 80 ppm so I think something is wrong with it. I don't want to waste the other tests in the API...

    API vs LFS Nitrate tests

Hi everyone - sorry for the long post I just want to make sure I provide as much info as possible as I'm still a beginner. Thanks in advance! :D My LFS tested my water and said I only have trace Nitrates however my API liquid test kit (I shook the bottles for like 3 minutes) shows 40ppm and the...

Fish gasping for air at surface

The tank has been stable for months except a brief battle with staghorn algae. The API Nitrazorb is a pouch for the filter that has some sort of material that absorbs ammonia, nitrate and nitrites. I still do weekly water changes and I use as directed. It's worked great, should I not be using it?

Fish gasping for air at surface

I apologize in advance for being long winded  I performed my weekly water change today and that went well. I left for an hour and went to the LFS and got a couple of plants and some ferts. I've been using API root tabs and liquid but the LFS recommended the Flourish tabs and liquid. About...

    Staghorn algae in overstocked 29gal

Thanks everyone! Regarding the water changes one of the reasons I'm changing so little is that with the Texas heat the coldest water from my tap is warmer than the tank. The tank is at 78 and the water that comes out is in the 80s. I guess I could keep some water in the fridge to mix in but I'm...

    Staghorn algae in overstocked 29gal

I do 12 hours of light a day and 10-15% water changes weekly. I'm doing the fluval c02 canister at 1 bubble every 2-4 seconds.

    Staghorn algae in overstocked 29gal

Hello everyone, I'm new to aquariums and I've gotten myself into a jam. I have a 29 gal planted tank with canister filter, c02, and a small UV sterilizer. Not sure what other details to give so I apologize in advance. I unknowingly purchased a pregnant platy and then she proceeded to have a...
