Yeah after tinkering around with the Eheim one all day I ended up ordering the Fluval one. Apparently they fit the 12/16 hose of the 2215 and are meant to work a lot better.
There ya go:
eheim surface suction extractor - Google Image Search
It's designed to get the surface crud off the water but this Eheim one just doen't work. I'm trying the Fluval one in a couple of days...
It's got noodles, a mechanical/course sponge, eheim substrate and a fine wool pad in there.
My main concern really is the surface of the water. It's covered in a lot of tiny particles that just float and never get filtered. I'll get an eheim surface extractor and run it off the 2215 as well...
Ok guys thanks for the replies :-)
I'm running an eheim classic 2215 at the moment and to be honest it just does the job. I'm thinking something along the lines of a pro II, something rated for 600ltrs. The 2215 is rated for up to 350ltrs and yeah as I said...
A question for those who are running two canisters on one tank.
Is the general practise to use two intakes and two returns or to use a T-piece and have the one intake feeding two canisters?
I'm thinking of adding another filter to my tank and imagining the possible setup scenarios.
Thanks
I think 4ltrs is roughly 1 US gallon, so if I put 4 or 5 drops per 10ltr bucket I think that should be ok.
Yep the guy at the LFS said that you can't OD with dechloriator, (within reason I guess).
Thanks for helping me work that out, you've saved me a trip to the shops! :-)
Ahh yes I have got a bottle of Prime. I haven't been using it because it's so concentrated and I've only been changing about 20ltrs at a time. I'm not sure how much to put in each 10ltr bucket because 5ml does about 200ltrs!
...and yes, Prime is very good.:)
I think I might have worked it out. I've been using API stress coat to condition the tap water, it is a dechlorinator but it also has aloe vera in it. The aloe vera makes the water cloudy.
I remember running out of the aqua sonic dechlorinator then buying the stress coat. That's roughly when...
I've just added some API accu clear to my tank since it has been cloudy for about 2 weeks, even after regular water changes and not overfeeding and not over stocked.
The accu clear seems to have made things worse, it's now more cloudy than before! How long does this stuff take to work? (it's...
