    Money in coral fragging

As far as I know (I only have experience on the freshwater side, but I've been researching SW for a while) adding the live rock during the cycle will be a benefit to you, because it will be colonized with beneficial bacteria, thus helping to speed up your cycle. It will also help to seed your...

    Caleb getting salty!?! No way..

I just read this whole thread. I love your tank! I hope to have a gorgeous SW tank like yours someday, hopefully once I finish college. Sent from my HTC One using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Severum ich?

Yup, I've been watching the other fish pretty closely, and so far only my rainbow shark and one tiger barb is showing signs of ich. I've had this tank for over 3 years, and I really hope I can treat this without any casualties. When my new heater comes (hopefully tomorrow), I'll start increasing...

    Severum ich?

Update: I ordered the Eheim heater, and it should be here tomorrow or the next day. I gave my severum a salt bath the evening before yesterday, and her ich spots have started to go away! I'm going to give her another salt bath tonight or tomorrow. One of my tiger barbs may have a few spots, so...

    Severum ich?

Crazy4fids, after reading the customer reviews for this heater, I think this is the one I'm going to get! How many gallons is your tank that you use this heater for?

    Severum ich?

Yeah, I figured I would keep the severum because I have to treat the whole tank anyway. The tank is sitting at 80 degrees with the heater cranked up to maximum. I've decided to get another heater. Would you guys recommend I get another identical heater (the Fluval M300), or a different one...

    Severum ich?

Update: I have confirmed that the severum does indeed have ich. I have started raising the temperature on my tank. I have the Fluval M300 heater for my 75 gallon, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to reach 86 F. I'm at about 80 degrees right now. The highest I've been able to get it was about 83...

    Severum ich?

Yeah, I know the severum might eat my plants. I read that feeding cucumber might help curb its plant munching tendencies, so I'm going to try that. What I'm worried about is whether it has ich or not. I'm going to call the LFS later. Sent from my HTC One using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Severum ich?

She still has the spots today. Here's a pic I took a few minutes ago. You can kind of see the spots on her dorsal and tail fin. I did my research before I got the severum, and I think she'll be able to hold her own with the tank mates. Should I bring her back to the pet store if she has ich...

    Severum ich?

My current stock is: 6 Cherry barbs, 10 Harlequin Rasboras, 21 Tiger Barbs, 6 Otocinclus, 5 Kuhli Loaches, 1 Rainbow shark, and the severum. With my Kuhlis and my live plants, I don't think adding salt would be the best idea. I know to slowly raise the temperature so it doesn't shock the fish...

    Severum ich?

Yes, they do look slightly raised. Should I start slowly raising the temperature? Sent from my HTC One using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Severum ich?

Hey everyone. I just got a gold red streak severum today for my 75 gallon planted tank. The severum has been in the tank for about 2 hours. I've been watching it, and it looks like it has some white spots. A couple spots on its body, but mostly on the fins. I've attached a picture, and can try...

Centerpiece fish for a 75 gallon

mikem691, It's good to hear that yours didn't dig, that's a big concern for me. I read that if severums are fed vegetables (like cucumbers and peas, etc) they would be less likely to eat the plants. Is this true? I put cucumber in my tank every now and then for my otocincluses (otocincli?)...
