I'm not sure what my problem is, actually. I have had a gross brown/red coating on my sand on one side of my tank (the side that gets some sunlight), and a dark green on the other side (away from the sun) for many months. My water params are all good. No phosphate, nitrate. I use RO/DI water...
Well, the bruise got much worse. Looked more like a gash. Needless to say he didn't make it. The remaining chromi looks to be doing pretty well. I'll give him a few days and re-evaluate.
I have a few LFS that I am not overly crazy about. They never seem to have the fish I want, or their tanks look dirty. Simply because I can't keep spending $$$ on the shipping and minimum purchases, I'm going to have to make do with the LFS.
I'll give a status update later tonight. I really...
Well, this morning one of the chrmis was dead. Not the one with the bruise, either. Upoin post-morten exam, it looks like this chromi had just started the get the odd stripe, but he it wasn't there yesterday. The other two chromis are alive.
The specs of my change water were very close to...
Ok, I'm doing a 50% water change right now. I've been feeding them flake food, and I have Zoe vitamins and garlic which I will add. Will that be sufficient?

I recently got a few green chromis that are now in QT. One has a red strip funning vertically down his side about halfway down his body. It looks like almost bloody under the scales. The same fish is breathing harder and nipping at the other two chromis in the tank.
Is this a treatable...
My tank is almost a year old. Ammonia nd Nitrite are 0. I use RO/DI water, but my phosphates (0.25ppm) and nitrates (15.0ppm) are are still too high (not sure why, I only feed every other day). I have a host of ceriths, but they don't touch it much.
I have this brown algae all over my sand. It mostly seems to be growing on the side of my tank that gets some sunlight. I've been battling it for like two months, trying syphon it out without taking too much of my sand bed with it.
Any suggestions for beating this stuff.? I absolutely hate...
Well, he didn't make it. I came home today, ready to add cupramine after the 48 hour wait, and the little guy had expired.
Anyway, gotta get back on that horse. What should I do to decontaminate my QT? Do I need to completely strip it down? Leave if fallow? Should I still add the cupramine...
Well, the good news is she was still alive when I got home, so cupramine treatment has begun. I have a bucket of aged seawater all ready (for inching the alinity back to 1.025) and am making a fresh batch. I will make sure to add copper to the change water for the QT.
Out of curiosity, how...
