Any chance at all that a well established HC carpet can take brackish water when provided with high light, fertilizers, CO2, and a rich substrate?
Specific Gravity would be 1.0003. So very mildly brackish. I'm thinking about getting a F8 puffer.
Here's a full tank shot.
Keep in mind though, rock formation is not close to final. All 50lbs of my live rock doesn't come in until after New Years :(
I'm also using the light on a planted tank which is thriving from just 3-4 days with that light. The AI Nano doesn't come in for a few days...
I couldn't come up with a clever title so I just plagiarized someone famous.
I picked one of these suckers up for $68 at Petsmart; last one they had. This is acrylic, eventually it's going to be a dwarf mantis tank - I think... I mean that's why I got acrylic.
The viewable area is 6.6 gallons...
Ah okay thanks. I'm still debating this.
I may just pick up a Cadlights 50g complete setup but it's a bit bigger than I'm looking for.
I'd really prefer a rectangular long aquarium but I'm having a hell of a time finding a stand for the ADA 75-P.
How about an internal filter?
Aquarium Filters: Fluval U-Series Underwater Filters from Hagen at fosterandsmithaquatics.com
Would that and a Bak-Pak which has it's own filtration be sufficient?
I really don't want to get a hang on back filter if possible.
Got ya thanks.
So for a ADA 40 gallon, what do you guys think of using a 2215 with either of the following:

or...
Thanks!
What would be the advantage of using just rock rubble instead of the multiple layers and foams that come with Eheim filters.
Would I still need a filter even with a protien skimmer? They seem to do filtration themselves.
AquaC Remora Series Protein Skimmers: Aquarium Protein Skimmers...
It's about a 40 gallon tank. If I wanted to go with no overflow or refugium and just a very large canister filter like a big Eheim, how well would that work?
Besides lighting and a heater, what other parts would I need?
Do I just need a hang on back protein skimmer?
The plan is to have a...
I was checking out Solana specials but after you include stand and lighting, you're at the same price as the Red Sea Max 130D but without some of the nice 130D features... but the Solana apparently uses starphire like glass..
Anyone's thoughts on one vs the other?
I plan to purchase two of...
Besides of course pouring very slowly... even when I do that it seems to spread sand around everywhere.
How about with a water pump? Get a cheap $10-20 water pump, pump in water from conditioned water bucket. I suppose if you want to get fancy and you do frequent changes, you can even get some...
Okay looks like no top for it.
I think I'm just going to order the ADA 17 Gallon 60-P with the factory cover.
I plan to use a Eheim 2211 or something less powerful, any advice on using clear or glass hoses instead of the green color ones?
Looking for a very well made exquisitely finished rimless glass tank in the 12-24 gallon range.
What other brands should I be looking at?
It will be a planted tank holding 3-4 Dwarf Puffers and possibly some small otos or other peaceful fish along with fire shrimp depending on size.
