my 90 has only 1x6's and 1x8's.

Does this count... it's about 2wpg? 4ft T8s... I'm no aquascaper, and I only spend about 1/2 hour a week changing h20, fert's 2x weekly.

Clean your dirty bottom.... :butt: I mean, I find my water surface stays clearer longer, if I keep substrate surface cleaner. Alternately, you could just add some water turbulance from your filter to your nightly routine, instead, or in addition of the bubbler.

I just talked to a person in the know. He says there's a tare weight stamped on the top of each tank. To make sure, all I need to do is take that TW and add 5lbs(for the gas) and weigh. Those values should match.

What is everybody's typical full 5lb bottle pressure? My first was near 900, lasted 4 months, my second 2 were barely 700psi. Those only lasted 3-4 weeks. And to bypass the "you might have a leak" topic, there isn't a leak if I submerse the entire thing in h20... Also take in to...

One thing that's difficult to make out in the picture, is that many of the stalk plants have roots reaching many inches out towards the gravel, and it's unslightly when it comes to the aesthetics of the tank. What do you do with your above ground roots, is it harmful to remove them? Is it best...

Before... nothing special, only algae covered crypts... And after higher lighting, new substrate, background, and Co2 reactor... I'm no aquascaper, but I can sort of grow plants, and have some control over my algae thanks to everybody's help here, I hope to add another pic in a few...

You are correct. The ballast is grounded to the power cord. If you are not using a metal housing, there is no reason to attach a ground cord to anything.

I built a canopy using 1x6's, with thin wooden shim type strips on the inside for a lip. And some angle brackes at just the right hight to have a drop in hinged cover. Very simple, and looks decent when stained. I also use a 4ft shop light with overdriven T8's 6500K(philips). Love it. The...

For what it's worth I had big trouble with similar algae when I was overdosing KNO3, due to a BAD test kit. I quit dosing NO3, and the algae slowly died back, and the plant growth even speeded up. I've also heard that rosy barbs eat the stuff, and so do a few of my cichlids - oddly enough.
