    step to step

You get a female and a nice large brightly coloured male. And a cave (or coconut shell). Wait until they pair and then you will be overrun with babies. They will breed in community tanks too, but for large numbers of fry, they are better off on their own. Funnily enough, the 2 month old fry...

    what to do with kribs

You can move the eggs if you like. I feed crushed flake once they are at the wriggler stage, and keep doing decent water changes to keep the tank clean. Otherwise leave them in until the parents start chasing them.

    what to do with kribs

If you have a pair, leave them in the community and let nature take its course. Watching them do the parenting thing is really cool, though you're better saving the fry into another tank if you want more to survive.

    what to do with kribs

Are you wanting to breed them, or just happy if it happens. I wouldn't keep 2 pairs of kribs in a 3ft tank, they will get too territorial. If you plan on breeding seriously, then you need a decent size tank for the krib pair, a fry tank and a growing on setup, successful spawns could net you...

    what to do with kribs

Once the kribs have got the hang of breeding, they'll be fine guarding the eggs/fry, just as long as there's plenty of hiding spots/planted areas. It's the other fish you'll have to worry about as they get pretty aggressive.

    Are krib fry indestructible?

Must just be my krib fry that are indestructible then. The ones from the community tank have been thinned out a bit, but there's still 6-7 swimming around despite the inherent danger from the predators in the tank. In amazed, just go to show what a good job the parents do of guarding them. The...

    Are krib fry indestructible?

There's 2 angels, a gold nugget plec, 3 clown loaches, 3 adult kribs, a GBR, 4 black widow tetras, a shoal of neons and a shoal rummy nose.

    Are krib fry indestructible?

I may be putting this to the test a bit further now, the pair have bred in the community aquarium now, I just saw the mother taking the new batch of fry out "walkies", this leaves me with a bit of a dilemma. 1) leave the fry where they are so I can observe the parenting behaviour (though...

    Kribensis Profile

I have 2 males and a female in my 50 gal community, they have made a pair and the "spare" male hangs out on his own at the other end of the tank. I seperated them into a spare tank for breeding, but had a heater failure (see a thread in breeding), so they are back in the community. They have...

    Are krib fry indestructible?

Still all thriving, they are about 5mm long and feeding 3 times a day (crushed tetramin), you can see lots of details now like them raising and lowering their dorsal fins just like the parents. Really enjoying this process. Can't wait for my shrimp to breed too.

    Are krib fry indestructible?

So we are 10 days down the line and there are around 15 fry, each is about 5mm long now and eating crushed flake with no problems. Very fascinating watching them learn to identify the food and become more "brave" as they get bigger. It's a pity they missed out on having their parents with them(I...

    Are krib fry indestructible?

Hello, from a new member, just wanted to share a bit of a long story, so bear with me. I was hoping to start breeding my Kribs so i had them in a breeding tank around 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, whilst they looked paired, the heater broke and I didn't have a spare, so I put them back in the...
