    Powerhead-5:Snails-0

I've never dealt with power heads, so I don't know the mechanics of them, but I use a pre-filter type sponge on all my filter intakes. I lost 2 snails from them getting caught in the intake before I took that step. It does lower the flow a bit, but my filters are adjustable so I turn them up...

    Pomacea Bridgesii (Mystery Snails)

I've got loads of pink and purple brigs that are ready for new homes. They are plant safe and population control is easy. I can ship to anywhere in the lower 48 and have the proper USDA permits. After I do water changes tomorrow I'll post some pictures of them. Most of them are pencil eraser...

    yet another mystery snail thread

Boosting the calcium in the tank using cuttlebone never hurts, but IMO your snail looks fine. New growth is laid down in layers. The last layer to be laid down is the color. If this guy is a new resident from a pet store, he is likely growing FAST because you have good clean water and plenty...

    Getting Rid of Snails

I saw a tip posted a few days ago (may have been here...who knows LOL!). The person suggested dropping a few algae wafers/shrimp pellets in your net and sinking the net down in the tank. Then when you want to remove the gathered snails, just lift it on out. Of course if you've got fish that...

    Snail clutches oh my..

Clutches are easy to ship. Just wrap them in a barely damp paper towel or bit of filter floss, put them in a plastic baggie and then into a well padded box. Priority mail takes 2-3 days and generally runs $4.05 for a small box. Mail on a Mon or Tues if you can so they don't spend the weekend...

    Cory ID help...

I spent some time digging on planetcatfish.com. Here are some that I came up with :) HTH http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=461 http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=1201 http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=1826

    10 gal. stockings..

I think I would just leave the neons as the only fish, except maybe a couple of otos. I'd probably up the school to 8ish as well. You could add a handful of ghost shrimp or cherry reds or maybe even an African Dwarf Frog.

    THERE HERE!!!!!!!!!!

Aren't they so much fun to watch! I'm glad they are up and checking things out! This is one of the best parts about mystery snails. If they lay eggs for you, they are above the water line. Super easy to spot and dispose of or offer to send them out to someone. And to share in the snail...

    33g stocking

Java fern is Asian. That is all off the top of my head, but plantgeek.net has listings of plants by region.

    33g stocking

What about a huge school of these guys?? You can find them on www.franksaquarium.com under the nano-fish, but I've heard some say they found them locally too. Barring you getting my dream fish (hey, I like to live vicariously!), what about some harlequin rasboras? Very pretty fish, very...

    bioload/snails/shrimp

Sorry, I should have been more clear. By apples I mean canas, the softball sized plant eaters. By mysteries I mean brigs, the golfball sized plant safe snails. For the most part, in my area, they are sold with those terms to differentiate them.

    bioload/snails/shrimp

Mystery snails would be a very expensive snack in your tank I believe. I'm not familiar with gobies (though I thought they were brackish fish??), but loaches are often snail eaters. The gouramis and the tetras would likely nip off the snails feelers if the loach didn't get to them first. I'm...

    bioload/snails/shrimp

If you are meaning common ponds, ramshorns and MTS, they really add hardly anything to the bioload. If you are talking about mysteries or apples, then yes you should count them towards your "fish count." Mysteries need about 2.5 gallons per adult snail. Apples need about 5 gallons each. They...

5 Gal, divided Betta tank (cleaner question)

What about a few MTS snails? Yeah, they can breed like mad if the food is there, but they are pretty cool little guys. You can hand pick out some if they start getting over populated. A divided 5 is pretty full with the 2 bettas in it. 2 mystery snails would max out a 5 gallon by themselves...
