    Fiddler Crab Dance (video)

About a month ago I bought a fiddler crab from a local pet store and I have to say these guys are pretty interesting. Here's a video of him doing his "dance": http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6642864066850030000 What the pet store told me, however, was that fiddler crabs can do fine in...

    Upgrading and Cycling...oh my!

You could try Seachem Stability - many people have had positive results with it. It contains dormant forms of the beneficial bacteria that are involved in the cycling process of your tank. The best part about it is that you're supposed to use it with fish in the tank because ammonia and other...

Could use a little extra help.

My local Petsmart carries $15 dollar hoods that have two crappy incandescent bulbs. I bought one of these, trashed the bulbs, and screwed in two 6500k 20 watt bulbs from WalMart. They light up the tank wonderfully and my plants seem to be growing well!

    adf in a 10 gal

My ADF doesn't really require any special treatment. When I put flakes, algae wafers, or shrimp pellets in the tank he starts to get active and will eventually find scraps to eat. ADFs are almost blind close up so its amusing watching him dive for a flake and gulp the fin of a panda cory. :D...

    Godzilla Shrimp (PICS ADDED)

There's a possibility that he crawled out. A couple sites I read stated that bamboos can occasionally jump ship. Check around your tank for some floor jerkey! :P That's probably not the case though.

    Godzilla Shrimp (PICS ADDED)

I just bought one of these guys several days ago! I saw him at PetCo and knew I had to have one of these revolting little creatures in my 10g. Well, mine turned a very dark brown and looks absolutely disgusting (which is a good thing). I'm guessing this is because he has chosen a spot under my...

    Bio Spira Updates

Bio-spira pooped out on me. It started my cycle quickly but didn't end it. What worked for me was Seachem's Stability. Cycled my tank in a week with only a tiny ammonia / nitrite spike.

Hi! Some help with my new aquarium please!

Give a quick visit to the inventory of plants on this site as well as plantgeek.net. This should give you a good idea on what you will be able to grow! Just make sure you have fluorescent lighting of the correct Kelvin and wattage! A quick search will give you more info on this. You might want...

Could use a little extra help.

And to address your other questions: Does your light fixture have slots that a regular household lightbulb would fit into? If it does, you can simply put in a couple compact flourescent lightbulbs in. Not any bulb, though. You must find bulb(s) that are the correct Kelvin and wattage for your...

Could use a little extra help.

None of your pictures are working for me. But no matter what fish you got, you added them in too early. A cycle takes a month or more, even longer if you let the tank cycle with fish because you must perform constant water changes. If you want to avoid a nasty cycle, buy lots of fast growing...

    1 gallon

A betta would be fine. Its still a bit small, but almost anything is better than the cups they have to rot in. You can also try a ghost shrimp or two with the betta, but that's dependant on your betta's personality.

    Filter intake cover that important?

Just bought some young amano shrimp...What an awesome addition they're making! Anyways, I heard that they are prone to getting stuck in intake filters. I currently have some neons, panda corys, an african dwarf frog, and these new shrimp in the 10g tank. They're about 1-1.5" long. I have an...

Panda Cories - Shrimp pellets too big?

Ammonia, nitrite undetectable and nitrate @ a little less than 20. Ph is a little on the soft side (not sure off hand, I know its more than 6). I'm keeping the temp at 79 which seems to be the max healthy temp for the cories. Maybe lowering it several degrees would help? I would think the...

Panda Cories - Shrimp pellets too big?

So I read that cories love shrimp pellets, so I bought some of those Omega brand ones that are supposed to be high quality. They look small in the bottle but get almost twice as big as they sink to the bottom of the tank. My cories didn't have a very good start...I found them at my local...

Crack in my 2 week old acrylic tank

Just noticed a new small crack in my Eclipse 6g right smack in the center of the bow front. The tank is only 2 weeks old. It's small crack about 3 or 4 mm long, but it seems to be inside the acrylic -- I can't feel it on either side. Are acrylic cracks prone to spreading like glass? It's at a...
