Tacit, I also always try to only buy from Opal. The other places just aren't that great or aren't as friendly. Did you know that Opal will special order fish for you? I can't remember what day she orders, but if you tell her what you want, she will put it on the list for order. The other place...

    hello people....new with 75gal tank..

I'd hold off on neon tetras until the tank is well established. They are very sensitive fish. :)

    hello people....new with 75gal tank..

Welcome! You came to the right place. Congratulations on your new tank. If the water has a white cloudy look to it then it's a bacterial bloom. I wouldn't say that cycling is difficult, just takes patience and a lot of it. Do you have a filter for your tank or is it just an air pump?

    2014 MACNA a few pics

How cool is that?? That sounds really awesome about the light technology. I'm horrible with light systems (in FW, couldn't imagine SW!), but all of that sounds great. I fail to understand the wifi connection thing, but I guess that is neat too!

Pros or cons of painting a back round?

Yes I have used it before but never thought about a background on a tank.

Pros or cons of painting a back round?

I can't wait to see what the plastidip looks like! I like the effect of painted on backgrounds versus paper backgrounds. I think it mostly depends on the look that the individual is going for.. Or not going for. . and construction paper is NOT ideal for larger tanks. If I had to take time to...

    brown algee????

Hopefully someone with better light knowledge pops up. How many hours a day do you keep the lights on? Reducing light time is really the only way to prevent algae from growing back. Regular cleanings also helps. If you give the deco a good wipe down at least once a week, you shouldn't have much...

    75 degrees too hot?

To cool the water down, you could freeze a plastic bottle of water and let it float in the tank. You might treat the water with a dechlorinator prior to freezing in case the water leaks out when it thaws.

Sand? Using Play Sand in Tank

That's too bad! I've heard that black blasting sand is awesome. I'll probably try it on my next tank.. Did you check building material stores? Another idea is to check with auto body and paint shops to see if they know where to get some. In regards to play sand, I use it. It's the only sand...

Looks like it.. Just wash it off. I assume the deco is artificial?

Hi I'm completely new to aquariums!

I'm sorry! LFS stands for local fish store. :) Rosy red... minnows? I don't think there is a way to prevent them from spawning, but to keep from producing babies, you could just remove the eggs from the tank.

Hi I'm completely new to aquariums!

Hi there! I tried to post last night, but my phone was being dumb and the app kept crashing on me in the middle of my post. I am glad that you chose not to go the way of neon tetras- especially since you don't like to see things dead. Neons are pretty, but they are very sensitive! Have you...
