    Cichlid not eating

Mine took a couple of days till they started eating. Also, I read somewhere that pellets are not the best thing to feed them. I feed mine this: Tetra Cichlid Crisps - Food - Fish - PetSmart and they go totally nuts over it.

    Question about a DIY sump

So I still would need the overflow box and the pump, it all changes when you start installing baffles and all that (that's the difference between sump and wet/dry filter?)

    Question about a DIY sump

Oh I see, that's what I had in mind. Make one partition to hold the bio material from the filters, and use the pump to return the water back to the tank. Wouldn't the wet/dry also use a overflow box to get the water to the filter, and pump to pump it back to the tank? Thanks!

    Question about a DIY sump

It would be for a 55 gallon cichlid tank. I just want to simplify the setup. I was thinking in converting the 10 gallon into a sump, I do think the 10 gallon tank has more media holding space than the two filters together though, why wouldn't it work? I would like to get rid of the wires/noise...

    Question about a DIY sump

In the pursuit of simply my cichlid tank (currently running an AQ110 and a Wisper 60) I found this on eBay: AQUARIUM OVERFLOW BOX WITH PRE FILTER AND RETURN PUMP - eBay (item 260699344156 end time Dec-27-10 09:50:37 PST) The question is, would this and an old 10 gallon tank that I have laying...

    Please Help --- High Ammonia

I leave the carbon in mine, unless I'm wrong, the bacteria eventually will also colonize the carbon in the filter, right?

    Advice needed on Cycling.

I would wait for the Nitrites to drop to zero before adding any fish if it was me. Trust me, it sucks to see fishes die (and daily PWC are a chore)

    My 55 gallon tank

Thanks for the idea, I had no clue what 'filter floss' was :)

    Why you should..STOCK SLOWLY

Adding enough Ammonia to the water will create a fairly strong bacteria colony.

    Advice needed on Cycling.

You are totally right, cycling with fish is a very, VERY, frustrating thing to do. I did it once, never again. I cycled a 55 gallon tank in 4 weeks, and I'm currently into my second week cycling a 10 gallon tank, and I already have like 5 ppm of Nitrites. The only advice I can give you, is...

    My 55 gallon tank

Hi, I did install the powerhead facing down the rocks, and a lot of their poop flew around! Also, you are right, they love the flow! They face the powerhead and stay there for a while! A total treat to watch!
