Ok.. it's been about 17 hours since adding the fish and BioSpira. My water params are currently..
Ammonia - .50
Nitrites - 0
Nitrates - 0
The fish are active - even the bottom scraping MM Platy.
Well fish and BioSpira are in the tank. All fish are doing well and look healthy..except for 2 Mickey Mouse Platys. The sides of both of them are white looking.. where the 2 I got originally are a nice bright color. The one is content to lay on the bottom and only occassionally swim around...
I'm expecting my shipment of Bio-Spira from www.fishstoretn.com today and was wondering what the correct procedure for using it is. From what I've read it should be added to a stocked tank. How long should the fish be active in the tank before adding the Bio-Spira? Should I add fish and then...
Thanks for the info. I was going to do that very thing.. just because by that time I figured it would need it. So you just confirmed another reason for me to do it.
Right now with the 2 platys in there the ammonia is between .5 and 1 - Nitrites are still at 0 as well as Nitrates. So I think...
I've checked out every fish store, pet store, and pony store in a 30 mile radius. Nobody had even heard of Bio-Spira. I tried to convince a couple of the smaller shops to stock it but not many were too accepting of me telling them that their store was deficient..hah. Oh well.
Anyway if you're...
Well I just 2 - Mickey Mouse Platys today. I had already added Cycle yesterday.. is that going to mess with me if I get the Bio-Spira? Or do I just proceed as if I had never put the Bio-Spira in? I didn't realize that you could add all your fish with Bio-Spira. That would make quite a few...
What does the slimecoat do? I was wondering about Zebras or Platies for cycling. I'm going to get 2 of one or the other today. Oh I ended up switching up from the 170 to the Penguin 330. There was quite a lot of surface agitation when the wheels first started spinning but settled down after...
Very nice pond Lori. We did one about the same size for our boss. He is kind of lazy and didn't want to do anything with them during the winter so we spent between $9-10000 8O to heat the whole pond during the winter. It's been working for about 3 years now and haven't lost a fish yet.
I have everything setup now. Water in, chloride/chlorine begone stuff in. Letting it mix for awhile. There are quite a few air bubbles on everything but no problem with that. The LFS had every Bio product except for Bio-Spira. They had Bio Slime, Bio Coat, and one other I can't remember...
Thanks mgkaelen. I almost missed your post. I'm watching the little one today so I'll go this afternoon and see if they have Bio-Spira or not. I want to get my plants and any other items for the tank so I can get it filled and into a cycle before I into fish. I'm probably going to start with...
Right on. I'll see what the LFS has in stock as far as fake or real plants and make the decision then. If the fake ones look ok I will probably go with them. Still undecided on driftwood or not. I grew up on MT and the theme of the tank is kind of leaning towards the streams up there. I've...
They sound like a load of fun. The configuration of my tank may not allow me to do that if they get that big. It's taller than it is wide.. 20wx18dx22h. Although if they are the only fish I have as far as bottom feeders it should be ok.
Eventually the following is what I would like..
4 -...
Right on. I appreciate the information. I see you have Clown Loaches. How are they for caring for? That's the only fish my daughter pointed to in a book I have..haha.
