Like a lot of people, I got into the hobby with a small (10 gal) tank, rather than starting bigger like I should have (live & learn). But I'm anxious to upgrade. I'd like to end up with a low tech, low-ish cost, larger tank.
My current 10 gal is planted with live plants but has blue gravel...
I've got a 10 gal freshwater planted community tank with 2 nerite snails whom I want in the tank. And suddenly a fair amount of uninvited, tiny little invasive snails I don't want (they must have hitched a ride on a recent plant purchase).
How do I get rid of them? I'd prefer not to use any...
Just wanted to update: I may or may not have ended up driving over the border to New Hampshire and may or may not have snagged a couple of nerite snails and I may or may not love them. If it were true, I would say they've done a killer job cleaning up all the junk on the plants in the pictures ;)
Hey Everyone --
I've got a pretty-well-established (about 16 months) 10 gallon planted tank (a couple of Anubis, 2 amazon swords, a java fern and a small grass-like plant whose name I can't remember) with 4 tetras, 2 platies, and 2 nerite snails.
What's my next move? I don't have any...
Wouldn't a mystery snail be too big for a 10gal? I know of one local club and was going to ping them on Facebook to see if anyone had a snail to spare (also because I--and I'm sure my son would too--think they're super fun). And there's always eBay, I guess...
Thanks! Is there any (non-fish/algae eater) way to get rid of the "white fuzzy debris"? I'm glad it's harmless, but it doesn't look the best...
What are the algae eater options? I did have a couple of Otto Cats and loved them, but they were the first to go when the tank went pear-shaped...
Thanks Autumn! (1) I don't see an adjustment, but I do need to clean the filter pump, I know that, and I removed the secondary cartridge/mini-pad holder, which seems to have helped the flow, too. (2) The lights are probably on too long; close to 10 or 11 hours a day. The tank is in a well-lit...
Hey All!
Looking for some help.... I'll preface this by saying that I'm definitely still a novice with my 10 gal aquarium (it was originally a gift to my then-4-year-old son, but I got way more into it then he is haha).
Anyway - I've recently begun switching the tank from plastic...
I should have clarified that we're right at 100% capacity. Not overstocked currently, but not able to safely add any new buddies either. Thanks so much for the advice, everyone!
Hey All!
We're a little over-stocked in my son's 10g tank--it was a birthday present for his 4th birthday this past August--and I think I finally convinced my wife to let us upgrade to a 20g!
I'd like to safely & properly move everything that's in the existing tank (all fish, decor...
Hi There! First post. I have a 10 gallon tank in the house (it's all the Mrs. will allow hah) for our 4 year old son to learn about/observe/enjoy. We've had it since August of '17 and take good care of it - clean thoroughly, cycle water regularly, etc. And all current inhabitants seem happy and...
