Well after endless hours of peering into the tank my eyes got crossed so I stopped. No fry yet! She is hanging out at the bottom of the tank way more though...Coming up for only a gulp of air and then back down to the bottom, in the back behind a nice big fake plant. Will update again tomorrow...
Well I was peering into the tank and it seriously looks like she is panting. Yeah, I didn't know fish could pant, but she is breathing faster then the other small mollie in the tank. And it looks like a little bit of whitish stringy stuff is coming out of her. I'll keep checking every so often...
No body really came off as "harsh" Just trying to help me learn the ins-and-outs of keeping an aquarium :P I actually didn't do a 50% pwc, probably around what you suggested fanatic, about 30%. I just declorinated it. Of course I am looking over the tank and thinking how did I miss that...
1.) Never cycled my tank. Never knew how too or that I had too. One of those fish misconceptions. sigh.
2.) I would have to believe that that test strips are junk because even though they are testing tap water at a normal level, like everyone said the level in the tank would equal dead...
You all know I have half a million questions.
I have a female mollie (well I figured out she was female) that suddenly got pretty fat. nice huge round tummy..and when she is in a certain position I can see inside her a dark mass. She is mostly whitish. How long does pregnancy last till...
Fishy huh? I rechecked it and it does read at 10+ of course I checked the water coming out of my tap and it like a fish's dream water except for getting rid of the clorine in it. (0 Nitrate and Nitrite) So, this makes me wonder....if the water coming out of the tap is safe for my fish and I'm...
Day Two!
I did another pwc with a vacumming, 25% of water changed out. waited about an hour and retested with the following results:
Nitrate - 40
Nitrite - 10 still
Hardness - 75
Alkalinity - 120
PH - 7.8
so, at least the tanks Nitrate levels went down by half. And the Alkalinity went down...
Funny...everywhere I was reading I was reading this "1 inch rule" I have been posting on this forum for under 12 hours and I already had someone telling me but "THE 1- INCH RULE!! and how I am overstocked with what little fishies I have. And my fishies are still alive after 3 weeks of not...
Well, you know, I was wondering about the content of my water. Well, I have some test strips right? So, I decided to do an experiment. First I am testing tap water...straight out of the faucet with nothing at all added to it. My results are:
Nitrate - 10
Nitrite - 0
Hardness - 75
Alkatinity...
I am not really sure, but I asked this same question on google and never found an answer. I have 2 fancy mollies that do the exact same thing and then they do this circle "dance" with each other. I don't know if it some mating thing or what.
Ohhh two things....I didn't reallize how much fish pooped! just cleaned out my tank for the first time and my son is standing there saying....that's some dirty water mommy!! And two I feel for my Betta who was in a one gallon tank with no heater beforer we bought the 10 gallon tank. Poor thing...
Ok something to add to my fish shopping list!
Well, I can say that in the last 1/2 hour the tank is looking much clearer. I have to go out for about an hour and a half and when I get back I am going to check it again. How often is to often to check the water levels...for right now all I have...
Well, I just gravel cleaned...OK someone should have told me how dirty fish can get. ( I should add that into the biggest misconception thread!) I now know to vac a little more, but I also just kinda stirred up the water hoping that the filter will fliter some of it. I did take a glass and...
