- 1st Planted Nano Tank:
TopFin Retreat 2.5G with modified filtration. I replaced the carbon and filter floss cartridge it comes stocked with and replaced it with Fluval Aquaclear Filter Sponge and Fluval Filter Floss to prevent my shrimp, substrate, and small fish from entering the filtration compartment and threw in BioMax BioBeads for my biological filtration. I began without fish to cycle the aquarium and slowly began adding plants, then driftwood, stones and finally last but not least, fish. The substrate was actually a cheap sand grain black, with some flourish tabs for root support and plant health. I use Seachem Flourish Excel as my main source of Carbon since I am handling this first build as a low tech planted tank. As far as other products... To remove ammonia, chlorine, and nitrates I opted to use Seachem's Betta Basics which was a HUGE MISTAKE due to the phosphate buffer (I have a tiny red algae problem causing my S.
