There was one ebay seller that was scamming snails, though. I think he was selling freshwater snails as nassarius snails. A healthy dose of skepticism is good when looking at any auction, IMO. Check the seller's feedback rating and scan the feedback for any useful information.

1 -- You can use water or water with a little bit of bleach. Just make sure that you rinse it out really well before using it in the tank. If you smell any bleach at all, then it still needs to be rinsed. If there's hard water deposits, you can use vinegar and elbow grease to get rid of them...

Zacdl, your problem sounds like you have the air intake turned up too high. I assume that's the intake with foam? It is "spitting" water, but there's just so many bubbles you can't see anything but them. I assume the bubbles are going out into the tank and not floating straight up? The force...

The powerheads go directly into the tank. You probably want to point the flow from them at the return flow from the sump, each other, walls, etc. This breaks up the flow of the water, which is better for the fish. They're just there to circulate water. Is there a pump already in the sump...
