    Cichlid tank progress

Checkout fishless cycle on the internet, explains a really simple way to do it with ammonia. It's just so much easier to cycle a tank without fish. You will have to be constantly testing, and changing water if not. Also the peacock probably isn't the best idea, mbunas are pretty aggressive, and...

    auratus

I have an all male tank. I would of done a regular m and f tank but I dint have the resources to house fry. So they would just get eaten either way, each time. I have peacocks and haps, there colors are very nice. Bright metallic colors, always swimming around flexing there fins, trying to look...

    auratus

Just saying, that's wrong to put an African cichlid in with a dominant SA hybrid, just because the African is dominant in his tank. That will just stress the peacock out. Usually the best course would be to re arrange the territory, maybe add a couple more fish, or if it comes down to it re home...

need help with new tank. oops i got an Auratus

Only if your doing a fish in cycle. Also if you're still cycling your tank I would vacuum only if it needs it, your trying to grow beneficial bacteria everywhere you can, and substrate is a great place for it to grow. I guess I should ask, was your tank fully cycled before adding your fish?

need help with new tank. oops i got an Auratus

If your doing a in fish cycle, be sure to change water often, probably daily. Test the water daily, if you see your ammonia creeping up, do a pwc. You have to be very diligent when doing a fish in cycle, or you will lose your new pets

    African cichlid Care

Well, tell us what kind of cichlids? What size tank, anything else in the tank, what kind of filtration? If your only getting two, get two males or two females, not one of each. We need more info before we can tell you what you want to hear

How many Africans an go in a 55g?

Aceis are very active swimmers, they should be in a six foot tank, but definitely no smaller than a 75 gallon. Also bumble bees can grow to be very large, and can be pretty nasty.

    Catching the little monsters!

First I drop a few pellets into my tank, thanI have some large nls pellets, I put into my net. I'll dip the net in, fish are all interested, all try to swim into the net to get the pellets, but you can pick and choose who swims into the net and who doesn't. Works for me all the time

    Malawi blue crab with Mbuna

I had a Cray in my tank with mbuna and peacocks, he was fine. If I had a weak fish though, one that got bullied and on the verge of dying, would end up in the Crays claws somehow. I never saw him grab the fish, I don't know if the fish would rest on the bottom, to weak to swim fast, but my Cray...
